The first time I saw this phone in India I wished if I could ever own this one. We procured this phone for client testing of mobile apps for blackberry.
Finally I got the blackberry pearl when I took the t-mobile plan with one year plan in US. The phone form is the coolest I have ever owned. I am not using the balckberry services as it is very costly. I use this primarily for voice, PDA, Games and music player.
The good things about the phone are
Slim phone for its functionality
Black pearl looks pretty cool.
The screen resolution is the best I have used till now.
Can play videos and music with better than average clarity.(I edited movies
with WMM and downloaded my private videos using BB supplied media manager)
- The music clarity using earphones is very good(No competition to iPOD
though)
There is password locker that is pretty usefull
Typing on this phone is so easy there is no need to multi tap, but the
trackball gets used a lot while texting.
- Battery lasts for 5 days with minimum usage with
auto shut off at night, otherwise three days.
- The synching is pretty fast and the USB cable can charge your phone.
The bad things about this phone are
- Cannot dial phone numbers based on name
- Cannot connect to pay as you go internet without
a BB plan.
- Track ball gets soiled very easily.
- No video recording
- No voice recording or call recording
- The 1.3 MP camera is close to pathetic.
Overall I still like this phone more than all the other phones I had till now. My opinion is this phone is one of the all time greats ever produced by anybody. I used it for 10 months now and hope this will last forever as I don’t wish to spend soo much for another one.
