Robinson crusoe- the first novel

Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe is one of the much read and much discussed novels of the world. It is thought to be the first novel written in 17th century. The novel elaborates the journey of Crusoe who started his journey along with his shipmates in the sea but due to shipwrecks, all his companions were dead leaving him alone in an island to survive. As the story takes its turns and twists, the physical as well as mental journey of Crusoe gets complexed. He has to fight with wild animals, learns new methods and tricks to sustain, even starts sugar plantation and all. Meanwhile he finds a savage person whom he names as Friday. He starts to educate him through religion. Thus Friday becomes his company to wipe out the utter loneliness of the island. The story thus describes the great adventurous journey of Robinson Crusoe who evolves lots of learning through his journey. Critically the novel is also regarded as the the specimen of colonial adventure in the islands by the colonial master, even Crusoe is thought to be the master whereas Friday is there to be mastered by the master. In short, its a great novel to read.
