Rok Sako Rocks!

Rok Sako To Rok Lo is a contemporary blend of good actors, actresses, director and crew…Rok Sako To Rok Lo comes in as a surprise package. The movie has brought in a refreshing feel good look to the Indian cinema.

While most Indian cinema deals with monotonous characters like “The Good Guy” and “The Bad Guy” this blockbuster has a varied range of characters some with seriousness some with humor…but most with zeal.

By the looks of it, the production company Planman life has sent out a message of their subtle but potentially capable presence. Their debut was with the Bengali film- Saanjbatir Roopkathora (Strokes and Silhouettes) that did wonders even at the international level.. one of the best films at London film festival. And now they came out with Rok Sako To Rok Lo and who knows what’s next… I think they’ve still not unleashed their full potential.

The movie revolves around the lives of five young individuals, namely Dev, Suhana, Bajji, Rati and Gangully who are the prize possession of a modest Bharti school. The entry of the adversary is dynamic and quite enterprising. The typical rich brats of Valley High School, who look as though they have everything but actually are missing out on the main aspects of life…. Living it.

They manipulate and twist the five characters until the heart-“beast” of the movie roars his way onto the screen, Sunny Deol plays the role of Kabir, creates his thunderous impact, which is caused not only by his character but also with the Harley Davidson he rides.

He shows the five stars what life truly is and how they should turn a blind eye to temptation…. Dev, the hero, develops an inferiority complex due to his stature in society and his mis-guided love for Sanjana. But the five emerge victorious with the guidance of Kabir. The ending is classic and is quite unpredictable. A nice sentimental touch added. Kabir dies, but only to leave all his love and friendship with the five stars. Like an angel who has completed his mission.. a duty well performed.

Dev realizes his true friends and not to mention his true love and ultimately makes all the right decisions.

The movie exudes feelings of happiness and pride not to mention a high level of tension which is created by the intense competition between Dev and Ranveer.

Where the movie could have been better is the editing. Few scenes stay more than required and few goos scenes like Kabir’s death cut even before we realise what has happened.

Over all the movie is definitely a job well done and we hope that Planman Life and Arindam Chaudhuri go beyond the stop sign. Like a good meal… if the recipe is good and the chef’s even better… the main course will be delicious.
