I have seen quite a few of Hitchcocks movies. While some of them (Rear Window, 39 steps, Vertigo) are very well done and keep the viewer is suspense, there are some that are slightly over-rated. In my opinion, Rope is one of them.
This movie fails to keep the viewer excited and it is kinda slow-moving. Brandon and Philip are 2 students who murder their friend David just because the clowns think they are intellectually superior to him. I dont know how you decide if you are smart or stupid enough to think you are smart. It all feels the same to me.
The ending is predictable. The 2 murderers get caught by Rupert (James Stewart) who suspects something is wrong and comes back to the apartment on the pretext
of finding his cigarette case.
Overall, although Hitchcock has directed movies with brilliant plots, Rope is one that falls into the mediocre category.
