Before you choose an insurance provider, please be beware of private insurance companies in general and beware of Royal Sundaram in particular. They are aggressive players. They will be very eager in push you for an insurance but when it comes to claims, you will start biting the bitter pill. They for sure will take the maximum time to respond your claims and sometime do not bother to reply. You need to keep following up or escalating things to next level, they catch their attention and to get a reply.
My experience with Royal Sundaram was no different from the dissatisfied crowd shouting here. I purchased hospital smart cash CCE0009725000100, covering my whole family. Recently my dad was admitted for Hernia and prostate enlargement condition. After a weeks admission and discharge from hospital, I submitted the necessary documents for claim and they rejected the claim stating that the hernia condition was pre-existing disease.
Although this was the first consultation and diagnosis for my dads condition and we were not aware of the medical condition earlier, the company dishonored our claim. When I asked for detailed explanation on why my claim was repudiated nobody replied. It is undeniable that my dad was also admitted for prostate enlargement condition, which was the most critical of the medical treatments provided to my dad during the hospitalization period. They are not still holding hernia as a reason to deny my claim.
I am not going to stop fighting for my claim here. I will raise a complaint to ombudsman of Royal Sundaram and to the IRDA to get my fair piece of justice!
