One of the best hindi movies in recent times saathiya has managed to do the almost impossible by being an off-beat mainstream movie. It has all the ingredients of a usual bollywood movie. Yet it is so different in many respects.
The flashbacks used are so simple and yet so impressive. The director Saad Ali has really done wonders(since it is a remake the credit should really go to the original director) with the hackneyed plot. The Narrative is lucid as can be.
Rani sizzles throughout the movie and is spontaneous. Viveck Oberoi has also done a great job. All the support actors have also done more than a commendable job. The only ones going overboard are the two guest appearances(shahrukh and Tabu) in utterly unnecesary scenes.
One of the strong points of the movie is its music. AR rehman has only rehashed his Tamil numbers but still the music compels you to listen. And the director wonderfully bleds the narrative into the music.
The plot also remains a strong point inspite of being oft-repeated. The triteness of the plot has been softened by the little subtle innovations like Aditya obsessed yet very sober love and the setting of the plot.
