Sachin is no doubt a great cricketer and currently the best batsman in the world. But is he a great person. I dont think so. For example how much courage does it take to hit a round wooden spherical object with a rectangular wooden object.
Now compare this with what courage, valour, sacrifice the Jawans and Officers of the Indian Army undergo. Why is it that if Sachin endorses Pepsi people buy it, but an army captain endorses speaks up there is not a single Indian bothering to listen.
Let us say Sachin Tendulkar commits a small crime like speeding and the cops beat him up. Just imagine the violent reactions all across the country. But when police even rape a woman inside the police station, no body even cares.
Whatever Sachin’s greatness on the cricket field, he is not a great person. He even dislikes paying tax and got a tax exemption for his Ferari car. How selfish!
As for Saching playing for the country and bringing laurels for the country - it is all rubbish. Sachin is playing so that he can get millions and be admired by millions. Which is perfectly ok. But what is wrong is people treating them like heros when the real heros dont even get a decent cremation.
For example in the recent Kargil war, the Government ordered coffins from an American company, as if so many unemployed people in India could not make coffins. What is worse is the Government ordered aluminium coffins of a very grade - the kind used in aeroplanes! It was obvious the politicians were making side deals. The American company had a field day - for the politicians did not even bother to check if the coffins were delivered!
The death of the soldiers who died for the country, was used to mint crores of rupees by the politicians. And yet no Indian bothers about it, yet call Sachin names like Hero, Saviour of the country, Genius etc. Sachin is a great cricketer and nothing more. He does not deserve any of the other titles.
