Samay Strikes Bollywood.

Que Sera Sera - What is going to happen will happen. When time strikes, it is said that the most powerful of the people become powerless, the weak become the strong, the rich the poor and what not. But the time for the Indian hindi film industry hasnt come yet. It is still a fledling industry atleast by the standards of maturity in the films made. But then we forced to think and rethink our notion about this industry when a film like this comes by. A film that makes you sit on the edge of the chair, literally. A film that forces you forget about taking a breath lest you lose one small gasp or whisper of the film, which so catches your attention that you stop blinking your eyelids for fear of losing an important scence of the movie, though how miniscule the scene might be.

Whatever the masses say, whatever the BO reports say, it is these movies that makes you think. It is these movies that force you to go and stand in long lines for tickets. It is these movies that make you fell optimisitic and hopeful about the quality of films churned out by bollywood. And it is really pathetic to see such a movie fall drab at BO. can there be anything more pitiable ?

And Samay is one of those films which doesn’t test your intelligence, it only makes you gasp in excitement with its intelligence. It is a far call from the mushy mushy stupid love stories being churned out perenially by bollywood. It is one of those films that makes the intelligentsia take notice of the power of this wonderful medium that is cinema. By now reading some reviews MSers must have had a fair idea of the movie.

The story is regarding the search for a serial killer. You revere the serial killer for his intelligense but have an uncanny feeling about his motive. And as the movie unfolds the motive does too. And its only towards the end that you begin to suspect something wrong. But you never know what is it. And that is what makes you want to sit with the movie though the end of it, even though you might be missing an important appointment with your date, or for that matter you might be sleeping hungry today as you have already fried your dal black.

Jokes apart, this movie is something I wouldnt recommend for everyone. A one with a penchant for the offbeat story someone who is ready to experiment with an experiment is game for it. It is a classy movie made for the classes. No skin show, no songs, no romance-in-the-air stuff. Absolutely brilliant material. Just hope more flims of this kind come out too often. iDream productions known for its offbeat movies has another feather in his cap. As for Robby Grewal, all I can say is ’May his tribe grow!’

As for the cast, its the best. Sushant Singh is picture perfect for his role. Always addressing Susmita as ’madamji’ throughout the movie he brings that indian values to the movie. So much care for detail!!! Ok, as for Sush she IS the one. She can give the new breed of buxom beauties a run for their money if people actually knew what beauty really means. Who wouldnt want a person with the beauty and the brains of her quality? Way to go Sush, all the best.

I wouldnt much like want to tell the story much. But it is just that there are a spate of bizarre murders with the victims being the best businessman, best actress, best assasin. Theses cases are handled by ACP Malavika Chauhan, the tall beauty with the brains Sushmita Sen(she definitely is tailormade for this role) is handling the cases who incidentally is supposed to be the best police officer. Get a hang of it? No ??? Go. watch the movie then :)

Now for the gory picture after the rosy details. It is clear that it has been in some ways inspired by the ’Se7en’(remember that gr8 movie with brad pitt, ...). You might not get to like this serial killer in this movie just for the reason that he kills innocent people for his selfish reasons and that takes the punch off the movie. The climax had much left to be desired. It could have been done in more better ways.

I dont have much left to say about this movie. But only thing. Dont Miss this movie. For heaven sake or hell’s. Thats your call. But once lost your time will never strike again.
