Up to date technology but low awareness in staff

I bought this TV (series 7 46inch LED)about 10 months ago. The first things that grabs eyeballs is the thin profile especially when wall mounted. Well designed looks and the dark color scheme ensures a match with almost any interiors.

Easy to setup and with 4hdmi ports setting it up with any HDMI device is a breeze. If the cable used is HDMI ver1.3 or higher, even the Any net features work e.g I can control my Bluray DVD player using the same remote and the auto startup/shutdown also work.e.g. if I play a DVD, the TV is automatically switched on and if the TV is switched off, the Bluray player is automatically switched off.

The challenge is on the analog ports. It has only one component port so connecting multiple devices on composite or componentconnectionsis a pain. While one could buy a switch but generally the quality deteriorates with the switch in between.

The network connectivity is again very simple and once on the network you can play any media stored on your PC provided you have enabled media sharing on it. This is a powerful feature if you store lot of digital photographs and movies on your PC. No need to burn a DVD and then play. You can have ready access to the entire digital library.

Audio is nothing great to talk about.

One feature I was looking forward to, was a disappointment though. The internet access from the TV is a shame. Firstly, it took Samsung over 3 months to get the feature working although its a standard feature of the product and even then the widgets available are too few i.e. youtube, usa today, picasa & accuweather. If they had given a simple browser and enabled java widgets to be installed, it couldhave been far richer experience.

The stored content on the TV too can’t be changed /updatedfrequently. Its done onlyalong withthe firmware upgrades so while the content is god, its not good enough to be viewed over several months. People should have the choice to download content to the TV if they wish so.

The connectivity with VGA port enable easy option for hooking up any standard laptop or desktop. So does the USB port where you could have anystandardUSB stick or storage device connected to play the media content.

Overall, worth a buy since it brings a much richer viewing experience and the hometheater effect of the big brightscreen is quite impressive.
