No sonu no charm

SAregama was a great idea, which blossomed well over the years under the superb compering of Sonu Nigam. This idea of Gajendra Singh (hats off 2 him) flourished a lot. We saw the hidden talent of our country being given a platform to display them. A few of them have even cut their own albums. The program was arranged well, the accompanying musicians are excellent. And we were fortunate to see our maestro’s coming on and judging the finals. But it was SOnu’s adept handling of the episodes, that gave the program its own charm. Now, he has gone to pursue his own pop career. To fill his shoes, Two talented performers were brought in. Sons of yet another maestro (Ustad Amjad ALi Khan), Amaan and ayaash bangash are talented in their frield all right, but they definitely lack the suaveness required to carry on. Ab woh mazaa nahin rahaa.

The program continues to showcase our talent, but somehow, the enthusiasm is lost
