Transparency Mr.Pawar.

Sourav Ganguly.

The name strikes anger in some people’s eyes, happiness in other. It strikes fear to some bowlers, while as a victim to others. The question is, is Sourav Ganguly an Indian Great? In a recent forum read, It was said that Ganguly did not even deserve to be on the ASIA XI! Personally, Ganguly deserves to be on the World XI. He has the third most runs, second most centuries, third most half centuries, second most man of the match awards, and not to mention has captained India successfully. If you think I’m lying check the stats, they won’t.

Today Kiran More, Chairman of Selection Committee, stated Sourav was not needed in the side anymore. The reason? He should not be playing at the sixth position because Yuvraj is the right man for the position. But why was he not retained in the side? Let me quote Mr.Kiran More, ’’A player of his stature should not be made an extra’’..........Well said Mr. More well said. Here I have a few questions which I would like to get answers to.

1) Coach Chappell said he’s looking forward to Sourav as a mentor to the team. In an earlier statement he had said that Sourav was not fit for captaincy or being in the side. Why did his comment count then and not now?

2) People say his form is not good.Fair enough. Speaking of form how come Gambhir is still in the team after scoring in single digits in both the innings?

3) Kiran More himself had said that Sourav was selected in the team as an allrounder. Now, how can he compare an all-rounder(read Sourav) to a batsman(Jaffer)?I think More has forgotten the basic definition of an all-rounder.

4) Sharad Pawar had said the working of the board would be very transparent. But the reasons given by Kiran more was by far anything but transparent. It was evident that the new management wants Sourav out and some Wassim Jaffer(spelling maybe wrong)in the side, who incidentally is from Mumbai, and has played 7 Tests and averages a paltry 20.13(not sure about the decimal number)

5) The most amazing thing about the selection is, our team is selected by a panel in which 3 out of 5 selectors have never played a single international Test match.(yes I’m referring to the three Pawar stooges)

6) Sourav’s performance was termed satisfactory by many experts......but the selection committee thought otherwise. I want to ask on what grounds did they arrive at this bizarre conclusion of axing him from the team?

I think More and the rest of the selection committee members met just to remove Ganguly from the team and offer ’’their lad’’ Jaffer a chance.
