Rediff Shopping - I feel CHEATED!

Please don’t be fooled by the attractive pictures and description of products on Rediff Shopping. Apart from being left with a very painful feeling that a seemingly trust-worthy website has taken you for a big ride, you’ll lose your hard earned money and could be laughed at by your friends and family for being so gullible. If you are planning to gift a toy to your 8 year old, then order for one of these so called real products from rediff shopping. The suppliers (whose credibility/customer satisfaction scores are rigged so they reflect 99% positive customer feedback) will send you useless peices that your children can look at and play with. But if you are seriously looking for products you want to use for practical and daily use, just stick to the regular stores.

*Here’s my story as a naive FIRST TIME buyer at rediff shopping.

I have recently purchased a **Car Vaccum Cleaner through Rediff Shopping, purchase order number 5113815. If was delivered to my on 7th January 2009. This was supposed to run on battery supply from the car (DC).

I checked the product immediately and it is found faulty. The following are some of my issues:

  1. Every time I turned it on, the motor ran ONLY for 5 seconds and then stopped. This happened even with the car ignition turned on. No matter how many times I tried, it just ran for 5 seconds.

  2. Even during the 5 seconds it was on, the motor was not able to suck even the small SAND PARTICLES. So the product is NOT SUITABLE for functional use in a car and feels like a TOY VACCUM CLEANER used for demo purposes to kids.

  3. The so called ’Powerful Search Light’ is poorer than a kerosene lamp and GLOWS all the time. It doesn’t have a seperate ON/OFF switch.

It clearly is a case of substandart product with multiple manufacturing defects and does not match its features. I’m really disappointed with the machine and wonder how rediff.com is associated with poor quality service.

I’ve complained the same to both the website and the supplier. Both are not responding positively or according to the Terms and Conditions mentioned on the website. I’m waiting to see what will happen at the end.

In the meanwhile, please do not buy anything on rediff shopping unless you are sure of the thing from some other buyer.
