I have been one of the few flyers in Air Deccan who have had a good run of luck. To start with - they permit 15 Kgs on board and I was permitted to carry more than that every time I flew. This could be because either I was just a coupel of Kgs more when flying alone and when I was with family ( 4 of us ) then I got away with 10-15 kgs extra as well. Kind of them.
Besides they have been on time. I flew on it about 7-10 times and found that it was late once only unlike what others say. Besides that once it took off 15 odd minutes before time. Its often covered ground on air and reached before flying time. The best was when it took off 15 odd minutes early that it landed atleast 30 minutes early ( before time ).
I had anticipated it and called for my car early. Their staff are generally courteous except that they have learnt to be rude because they keep dealing with first time flyers everyday as they are labelled that way. Their only negative is the free seating system. They claim that its their software which hangs if seat allocation is done and makes it slow, but the truth is something else.
They feel that in a scamble ot get good seats or seats when the family or group can sit together, everyone makes a dash for the flight and that results in time saving of ablout 10-15 minutes for the airline. Smart tactics I must say. But seat allocation can be done and this 10 minutes can be handled smartly which other airlines ( Low cost ones ) do so. Anyways, each airlne has its own policy. I like the coverage of the airline which is almost everywhere ( almost ) I must admit.
