Why did I buy this vehicle?
Well, dad bought it but, yes! the insistence was mine. :) We were in the mood for a new car for the family and it was Mercedes Benz that we had test-driven first. However, that didn’t impress me much!! <<Shania Twain style!>> Well, why it didn’t impress me calls for another review. So, let Benz not hog the limelight that’s currently set on Superb!! It was a test drive, a long drive that sent the adrenaline racing in rhythm with the speedometer and the sense of gliding over a satin sheet that made us say ’’BINGO!! That’s OUR baby!!’’ So, came February end of this year and Skoda Superb was welcomed with great affection and fanfare into our garage!
Describing Skoda Superb for you:
Smooth, Classy, Spacious, Elegant, ...and umm..er...Expensive. Okay, I know this is a luxury car but, I got to admit that an average of 5km within city isn’t really light on the pockets...is it? Now that we’re done with the ’’what’s-not-so-HOT’’ part of Skoda Superb, I think I can go on and about raving about what makes Skoda Superb tick! :)
SS sure is Spacious. Step inside it and I bet this is the only word that’s going to strike u first!! A good legroom throughout and the front two seats come with 4-type adjustments (forward, backward, upward & downward inclinations). There’s also additional adjustment provided for the backrest of these 2 seats alone. So, that makes it 6-way adjustments for each seat!!.
SS comes with a broad assortment of added equipments of sorts! Like...
wet-umbrella holder compartment smartly hidden below the arm-rest of the back left door & with a clever automatic drainage system
A glove compartment that is accessible from the backseat. It is a bag which opens into the boot of the car when stuffed with your belongings.
Individual Air cooling+seat warming control for the backseat passengers. So, we all have something to cater to our whims & fancies of the heat & cold. ;) :D
Individual Reading Lights provided for passengers of all four window seats of the car.
Automatic gears & a Beeper for reverse gear that acts like the friendly watchman who’d volunteer to tell u about the obstacles while u’re pushing ur car in the reverse.
Rain Sensors on the windscreen to trigger that wiper automatically.
Clear-optics Bi-Xenon Headlights & fog lights with retractable washers. Just gaze into those two beautiful eyes and you’ll be blinded by bright illumination by halogen bulbs. So, instead of gazing into ’em, flood the road with ’em dears! Classic illumination!
Footboard for the rear seat passengers. Ah!! That already sounds so relaxing for those long drives, eh?!
foldable elbow support between the rear seats as well. It can also be used as a beverage holder and the rear glove bag that I was talking about earlier is well hid behind this space.
The rear doors are the largest I’ve seen. Their dimensions are really imposing, getting into and out of the vehicle thus feels like a garden stroll. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like squeezing oneself into a jar anymore ;)
Ergonomically shaped steering wheel with leather for a comfortable cruising!
The door mirror has a memory, just like the electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Yeah! It allows 4 individual settings :) So, every time a member of the family hops into the driver’s wheel...it’s just a matter of a button to get all the adjustments in place for this driver!
If Safety is an issue... fret not! coz SS ensures optimum protection in the area of the cervical spine. Triple braces in the doors and thresholds, and a modern advanced chassis, efficient disc brakes on all wheels takes care of safety of vehicle. The drive train is installed in such a way that it is pushed downwards in case of gross deformation and thus prevents its penetration into the interior of the vehicle.
For safe travel of children, the vehicle is equipped with ISOFIX system for fixture of child safety seats.
The ESP manages the braking pressures thereby allowing the vehicle to regain stability and remains on track, in case of under or over steering.
Oh! Head airbags are additional safety measure along with the side airbags for all passengers and the front airbags for the front passengers.
All this & more... from those see-through top sliding screen, the sleek & well-equipped dash board, a refrigeration compartment, auto controls, charming light alloy wheels, sliding shades for the read windscreen, tinted windows, unbelievable spacious Boot with a neatly hidden CD changer, Dials & Digitals to show u temperature, fuel...a large display of the navigation system with a TV tuner to go with all this! :)
Now that’s what I call... State-of-the-art Technology!!
I am a commercial consumer so; let me leave the talk on HP & engines to the more techies to review about. All I can tell u is, be it the passenger seat or the driver’s seat, I am not complaining coz when it comes to comfort & style, there’s nothing like Skoda Superb for me!! :)
This is THE BEST vehicle in the higher middle class category.
