Its a SONY - T310

The Sony 310 is as good as a mobile phone can get. It was Nokia all along since I started using a mobile, the last model I used was a 6310i. When it came to making a choice between a Nokia & a Sony (colour display models), this Sony Model has a place for itself & if you are one of the impulsive buyers...i bet your heart & mind will want the T310. Before I start taking you through the product and features I wonder whether we should, would or could consider any other ’’coloured’’ models like Seimens, Philips, Panasonic & Samsung!. specs 1. The T310 is priced around 10k (with a bill & warranty), now we are talking of a ’’coloured’’ phone with an economical price tag. If one has a choice of exchanging the old mobile, one lands up shelling a few thousand bucks, not bad at all for an upgrade. 2. The T310 apart from being small, light weight, handsome & with a ’’wow’’ look, features a 7 line display with 256 colours. [ the Nokia’s functions @ a higher colour depth, however the difference in perception is none too much, rather NOT WORTH DISCUSSING! 3. The T310 usually gives a 400 hrs standby time & a talktime of 11 hours. Now this can be debated upon, however considering that you have a talktime of 300 mins in a month (obtain this info from your service provider), the T310 works for 3 nights & 4 days with a charge time of 3 hours. The sony as usual is charged under two conditions, the first when the mobile if off (recommended) & the second which Sony calls ’’optimised Charging’’, in the standby mode. I prefer the former. 4. The Navigation is a beauty. The earlier Sony models used a ’’Jog Dial’’, the newer generation Sonys’ use a ’’Joystick’’. The Navigation is a breeze & the software is ’’user friendly’’ [ If you have migrated from the Nokia family, it will take awhile to work out the sony software ]...just a couple of hours playing with the gizmo & you are in the sony groove. 5. The software - The Phonebook - 256 Entries [ Contacts are ’’managed’’ under home, work, mobile & e- mail ] There is no provision for additional info such as address & notes which the nokias’ have. Lets not call it a disadvantage but the sony guys thought its not neccessary :-). One can assign each phone book entry with a personalised tune & a picture. - Messages [ text, MMS, e -mail, Voicemail with the function of sending long messages....you know the really long messages, well type as much as you want ]. - Calls - You have at your kind perusal a missed calls, call list, manage calls, time & cost, Next call & options to customise all the calls submenus. Exhaustive, but not bad at all. Its really comprehensive. - Fun & Games - Games, My pictures (36), My sounds, Themes (3), Download ( http://www.sonyericsson.com - using GPRS), composer, sound recorder ( 10 minutes!). You can download Games, pictures, Themes from the sony website all for free!!. However you will be eating into the 1Mb internal memory. Ofcourse you have the choice of deleting the downloaded ones, however the inbuilt ones cannot be deleted. Just a ’’tip’’ here, there are sites which show you how to delete the ’’inbuilt’’ ones as well. I like games like ’’alien scum’’, ’’minigolf’’ & ’’ Black Deal’’. The sounds are 32 polyphonic ringtones & the normal beeps as well. The problem with the polyphonic ring tones is that in a noisy area its a bit difficult to hear them, unless you are using a handsfree. The tunes are original & feet tapping mates for sure...play on. - Triband - Go Globe trotting with this beauty. Not all Nokias’ give you this option. Sad, really sad. Sony has done a good generous job here :-) - Settings - The auto keypad lock is a good function. You can manually lock the keypad as well. The settings module is exhaustive & covers all the features of the T310. - WAP services - My service provider is ’’orange’’ & I have this 32k Sim which hosts the ’’OrangeAlive’’ service, so I get all the newsfeeds on my screen. You can access Wap enabled sites using the GPRS. Check news, mail et all & its pretty fast in terms of connectivity. For Internet connectivty using the USB cable Orange provides you with a speed of 14.4Kbps using the inbuilt Modem. - Organiser - Hosts the Events, alarms, timer, Stopwatch & Calculator. - Connect - Infrared port, GSM networks, Data Communication & Accessories are hosted herein. The Accessories available easily are the Handsfree, CommuniCam, Chatboard ( a QWERTY keyboard!...its cool ) & a FM Radio addon as well. - My Shortcuts - One can add the frequently used features here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now That I am done with the specs, let me introduce you to this ’’C’’ function. Now say you have an incoming call & you would not like to answer it. What do you do?In most phones you will have to disconnect & the caller feels offended right....in the T310 press the C button & the caller hears the ring & you don’t! :-0. This I feel is an awesome feature. If at all I am looking for a smart phone with a ’’wow’’ look, go for the ’’fashion Blue’’ T310 with an advanced technology Service provider in your area & if you like the word ’’happy’’ its a T310 from Sony Ericsson mates........cheers. Kindly note - its worth spending time with the manual :-)
