I sold my w830i for this w580i, by paying 1000 rs more! Price is now 13000+(w830i is still 15000+!) Reasons for my shift(TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY STUPID MOVE 31/8/07, I regret)
1] really thin and best looking walkman phone ever(w830i is tad too heavy & bulky)
2] cool new feature " shake control " ie after pressing walkman button and shaking can randomly change tracks.it works only if u press down walkman button, so NEED NOT worry about track changing while traveling in bumpy Indian roads!(pls b careful NOT to through it, while shaking, also, practically its a useless feature, bcoz pressing one button is easier than pressing one button and shaking!)
3] cool " " light effects on side panels(same as that of s500i), it changes colour with change in QVGA display(BUT I miss my orange pulse lite of w 830i, which works with beat of music, also can b turned off, light effect of w580i do not change with beats, also takes up much of battery charge, no option to turn it off, need charging every day with average use, too bad for a walkman phone!)
4] very bright & crisp display
5] Additional " print option" for directly connecting to Printer(BUT picture quality is average!)
6] Loud & crisp sound(speaker located just beneath front music player like D pad, but do "creek "with megabass on!)
7] All new Pedometer for "workout".due to inbuilt motion sensors, more reliable readings like"how many steps, how much calorie used etec.
8] my phone is all black coloured(.Boulevard Black)(search net, apart from sonyericsson site, u seldom come across black, luckily, we get black in India!).much better than Grey coloured & white coloured versions.
9] good sound reception .even audible in crowed places! & good signal reception, can talk with out break even with min signal!
10] slider build quality is excellent, no gaps, no shakes!(unlike w850i) (but have seen one s500i which slides, so tight.so it all depend on how u use, since both s500i nd w580i are build on very same mechanics!
11] mouthwatering themes(flash enabled)(but tried to upload my w830i themes, works fine, but colour of lights wont change as with default ones)
But, I don’t know why sony has stopped using twin speakers, after w550i, may to save power!Anyway "stereo widening" compensates, a bit for lack of twin speakers.
NB it also comes with 1 gb memory card, that also M2 type!(in india it seems like 1 gb, but there r places where they give only 512 mb, so just verify if u buy it from outside)

Sad turns .today I noticed a hairline CRACK in my phones keypad .Pls NOTE the point, Naturally I bought w580i after going through all available
reviews, everyone was saying its just "green keypad/only s500i/just
paint reaction for that particular green paint used on Wednesday! .all I could understand was, s500i crack key pad was particularly green ones, that too was due to some reaction with particular green paint!BUT my orange coloured keypad has developed very same problem, it shows its a clear case of cheap quality plastic used, not just paint reaction!
Anticlimax.went to service center, they r saying that it will take some time for replacement, as they don’t have spare(we INDIANS have to suffer such bad treatment always) & ALSO THEY HAVEN’T GOT THEIR SERVICE TUTORIAL VIDEO.THEN HOW DARE THEY LAUNCH A NEW PRODUCT.
I WAS A DIE HARD SONY ERICSSON FAN, BUT THIS TIME YOU CHEAT YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS LIKE Even if they change my key pad for free of charge, i bet the replaced ones too will give away, provided you use ur phone for playing games!so its better to delete all games!So I sold my w580i for scrap, since I lost my money in a row, (by selling w830i & buying w580i, )i plan to buy k750i, which is just 7500rs, eventhough she is aged!
