Ok, after a whole lot of deliberations I did get myself a SEw700i, been using it for more than 2 months now, and so writing this review…..abrief background, I have never used a NOKIA in the 8 years that I m using a cellphone…..Motorola, Siemens and Erickson, and some time with Reliance (LG)….noNokia, so this review would not be comparing the phone with Nokia(except pricesfor similar features)…..well back to the phone, lemme take it feature byfeature……
Call connectivity, reception and Voice Quality…..Amazing, crystal clear reception, and connectivity…. The voice volume on both ends isgreat, and I have seen no problem on this front whatsoever
Camera…2 megaPixel Camera with decent Zoom, however the onlyproblem is the fact that if you select large picture size, you could not zoom in(thefact is that the camera offers digital zoom, and not optical zoom), but thepicture quality with the phone is truly superb, I have seen results from someNokia and other phones with 2 MP cameras, and this one has much better pics, also throw in night mode and light J, though what is missing hereis a flash L, the video capture is good, and you could record massive vids….
Walkman…….what do I say here, Sony brings in all itsexpertise here, one touch walkman, very easy to use, and hosts of featuresincluding a 5 band equalizer, FM radio too has decent reception, though theonly trouble is that FM antenna is in the headset only, so no fm withoutheadset
Also you could playback and store videos, I have watched acomplete 98 minute movie on the phone, the only problemL being the small screensize
Memory…. 34 MB internal memory and 256 MB memory card thrownin, enough for a 50 song, some 30 MB of video, and still space for clickingsome 100 odd snaps…..kewl…….i go along with this much, for hardcore musicenthusiasts, get a bigger memory card
PC connectivity….infrared, Bluetooth, data cable……ab aur kyadenge, ……keep uploading/downloading to/from the PC……
battery ... I use the phoen for 2-3 hours everyday and music for some 2hours daily, and I have to charge it every alternate day, decent abttery backup
Messaging…….trouble spot 1, only 100 messages in all couldbe stored, keypad is nice , and u cud type easily…..
Screen and display…trouble spot 2, screen smaller comparedto some of the other phones, a handicap if you intend to watch videos on thephone, else the screen is responsive and well planned
The biggest trouble I have with the phone is its GPRS connectivity, I have tried both airtel andhutch on the phone, and m not able to surf most of the the net and WAp sites and even yahoo mail and gamil, and also the sony erricsson links given in entertainment, Isimply get a message saying “ There is some problem connecting to the page, pleasecontact your network operator’, this is not a network problem since I havetried this on my older phones, I am not even able to download anything from the net using the phone…..so I m not able to use GPRS on my phone, if ne1 has GPRS working properly on his SE w700i do lemme know
trouble spot 4..... the handsfree and charegr plug into the same socket, so u cud use only one at one time:(
Over all- A great phone at the price band, all features inplace, wish GPRS worked too
