LCD Vs. PLASMA
Static Images- LCD works better than a Plasma, because LCD has almost no static image screen burn-in factors to consider. Therefore for long term display LCD far outshines the plasma, which after 15mins of constant image freeze has a degree of image burn in. and picture quality will suffer if image is changed in 20min intervals..
All this stuff is very application specific, depending on what you are trying to achieve.
For Video Playback (DVD-camcorder-Cassette and video gaming) PLASMA is better
Contrast Plasma(2000-3000:1) vs LCD(500-800:1) Plasma is much better
Color differential Plasma is better
PC – computer interaction : LCD is better when working with the pc, every body is moving to the trend of fully pc/entertainment integration.
Longer lasting: Lcd will last you 2-3 times as long as Plasma, even after that LCD screen’s can be re-flushed, Plasma wears out between 25k-30k while lcd can ride on till 60-80k
Voltage power usage… LCD is way more efficient than the Plasma- also Plasma is very finicky with power fluctuation.
Overall , if you are a purist then Plasma is your baby, it cuts a much finer picture. If you want to have a all inclusive Pc based system then Lcd is the way to roll.
Cost – Prices are higher in the market because of the shortage of the required components.
LCD’s are cheaper with the smaller sizes
Plasma start to get cheaper over the 45-50inch screens.
