Generalising South kanara into one category is quite unfair for us. Though I am brought up in mumbai, my rots are from SK, and each time I visit my native place, that feeling of coming home comes on strong. There are so many places in South kanara that are picturesque and beautiful, that one category is definitely unfair.
Just where do I start? Mangalore, one of the main cities of SK, is a good place to be in. Going by the weather, not very comfortable in summer, but still it has its own charm. From mangalore on the road to udupi and beyond, u will come across various temples, and each temple will have its own story. The beaches at malpe and suratkal are just delightfully scenic and still relatively untouched and unspoiled by human invasion. The temple at udipi (krishna temple) is a famous landmark. As we go futher down, comes the famous mecca of education known as Manipal. Then going further along the coastline, youll come across so many beautiful beaches be it murdeshwar, where in by the beach is a beautiful temple. As I said before, one category isnt enough for this picturesque district known as south kanara. One thing for sure, If u r on a trip to mangalore, make sure u have lots of time, cause if you dont, youll feel miserable at missing out on oh those picturesque place, cause south kanara is rich in natural landscapes, illustrious temples and backwaters as in Kerala. It is a jewel of karnataka, known by all, but not acknowledged as much. Only those who have been here even once, will swear by it
