An excellent option

Springfields is located at a 10 minutes walk from where I stay in Shimla. ITs essentially an old house which has been renovated a bit and converted into ahotel. Care has fortunbtaley been taken to ensure that the old charm still exist. Hence what you get is a modern amenities with quaint architechture.

THe only bad point about the hotel is that it is located right in the middle of a market place called Chotta Shimla. THis is one of th busiest markets and its close proximity to the secetariat ensures a certain level of traffic throughout the day...but mind you when I say say ’’level’’ I dont mean something like delhi at all. and when I say busy market..its more like a dilli haat then a lajpat...it ois a small town afterall.

THe good point about the location is that you are in the middle of Shimla. a brisk 15 minute walk will get you to the mall and about a 20 minuted car ride will get you to mashobra or kufri. Residential areas start where the marklet ends hence allowing the opportunity for quiet walks as well througha lot of greenery.

THe hotel is not too expensive. A freind ofd mine paid about 2500 or so per night during the month of October. THere will ofcourse be seasonal differences. It has a bar, a billiars room and a wonderul lawn at the back ensuring great sunset views and further in the distance snow clad mountains.

The staff is courteous and frindly though a little laid back. This is a trait youwill find in most non 5 star hotels. Himachalis by nature are like that and in the course of time you will learn to find it ’’cute’’

I would definetely put it on the top of an options list.
