Updated on 9th Jan04: I closed my account as I didnt get the ATM PIN number still as of date, I had requested PIN number once more from the Telephone banking, which the lady said will be done in weeks time but more than 2 weeks and nothing. When I went to Branch to close the account, the executive asks me why I want to close account, I stated my problems and she promptly says that if she can arrange it now would I like to retain the account. WHAT A JOKE ??
So finally closed the account....
Every time I think of my account in SCB, I just assume I dont have that bank account and the money there is a deposit for my worst times, which I know will not be the case either.
I had opened this account as one of my friends was working in SCB for the savings account and he persuaded me to open an account. He did all the form filing and photos and bank formalities for me so I thought of SCB as being of one of the wonderful experience as I had not to move out of office for this work. But I may have assumed things too early because as soon as the account was opened and my cheque book delivered, I kept waiting for 2 weeks for ATM card, called up their Phone banking and they asked me to wait for one more week, still no card. Later Phone banking reps asked me to write an application and hand it over to the respective branch where I have my account which I promptly did and my ATM card came in the following week but for 7 months I have this account with SCB and I have not yet received my proper ATM PIN number. Once I had received a ATM PIN number which I tried in times of crisis at one of their branches and the Card was kept due to improper verification. Again called up their Phone banking and asked them to mail my Card to my mailing address which they declined and told me that I have to in person go to that branch where card was held back with some photo ID proof and get the card back. This is not all, the branch is open in normal working hours till 2:00 ( I think) so have to drop in before that. So spent another taxi fare to the branch where I my card was stuck up and got my card. I dont know what they might have suggested me if the card had been stuck in some other city.
I prefer net banking as I have easy access to Internet so filled up the form for internet banking and again handed it over to the branch where I hold the account. A letter was received that my internet banking was activated and my login id will be my ATM card number. Okay till now but what about the password, yes no password for 2 months more. When checked up with phone banking to generate a new internet banking password for me they asked me to write another Application for new password nad hand it over to the branch where I have my account. I did that and it had to be done twice for me to get a internet banking password last week.
With all this going on I still dont have ATM PIN number and for which I have to write application and handover to the branch I have account with.
I am thinking of writing 10 applications and keeping them handy as I dont know when one will be needed with SCB.
Worst ever service I have experienced with Banks in my life and would not advice to bank with them. Rather use PSU banks as they provide limited by effective service.
