Avoid Stanchart cc's if you can

I don’t have any Indian credit cards but my father has one and this is what I’ve experienced.

Registered my father for paypal, paypal gave a 4 digit identification no., even after a week, stanchart has no record of that transaction.

Slow turnover.

Sent in a form for online access, called up to inquire about it, find out they haven’t received it even after 2 weeks.

Bad logistics.

Receive the online access no. and find out that it doesn’t work. Call up stanchart and they say it might be a server problem.

Two days later, still no online access so after I call up and complain about it, they say they will send another number and it will take 10 days.

12 days on, still no number.

The actual login id is the 16 digit number. and the password access no. is a 6 digit no.

That is not a good way to access your online account.

Login id should be a username, not the card no. It’s irritating having to get the card everytime you want to go online.

Password- a 6 digit number?

Who’s going to remember this. People usually use a alphanumeric one and it should be the same here too.

Stanchart’s internet div is still in the 90’s..

Irritated, I told my father to sign up for a SBI card... If its service is good enough, I might ask him to close his stanchart cc.

Since my father has his photo on the stanchart cc, he prefers it for security. He might be right but I have very rarely seen him using that card anyplace other than online.

Also, when the card came up for renewal a few months ago, he told stanchart to close it since he didn’t use it much. Stanchart waived his card fees for this year.

So I’m guessing that he’ll just keep the card around.
