Now the real story:
Accomodation for 2 nights: This is fine. Excellent view of the valley. Almost all rooms has breathtaking view. Since we visited during off season (Oct), The receptionist said we can checkout even at 1pm. When we checked into the room, we had to ask for towels, soaps and toilet papers!. There is no tub, there is no handheld water shooter in the toilet. All water tapes has hot and cold water controllers and it works.
Food credit Rs.1800/- for the enrtire stay: I went there with my wife and 6 year old son, Even though we had food at this place all the time, maximum we could spend is about 1500.
If you are a drunkard, may be be you could spend more. But they have only Beer and Whisky.
When checking out, just to use up the food credit, I bought tons of water bottles and piled up in my trunk.
Welcome drink on arrival: Never arrived.
Free Indoor activities: Yes. Then if you take any of the boards or stuff to your room, it is charged.
Half a day local sight seeing: Arranged by a very proffessional guy called Raja. Nice job. When some of the pasengers in the mini mus wanted not to take part in boating, he promptly arranged for two separate vehicle to cater two groups of people.
Fruit basket and cookie platter in the room: I kept on asking for this with the receptionist.
Finally, on the second day, late in the evening, I had to say something like "you have no idea the damage you are doing for Sterling Resort’s image" to make to act on this. Then the fruit basket(!) containing one apple, one orange, two bananas and a bunch of grapes arrived during dinner time on second day. Along with came a cookie platter containing five cookies.
Summary: These guys are surviving because of their stunning location. Even if it is not a great place to stay, because of the view that you get out when coming out of your roomo in the morning, it is worth it. Dont go for package deal. Rent out a room and go for all others seperately. You will end up spending less.
