Six of us had recently (Jul 2005) gone to Shirdi and decided to take our Travel agents advise on hotels. He suggested Sun -n- Sand, Shirdi. It was a 4-star hotel at unbelievable rates (under 1500 for a ac room). It was excellent value for money. Ofcourse, the fact the hotel had just opened for business may have something to do with the low rates so do check the rates whenever you want to book.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes walking distance from the temple. Therefore, near enough and yet away from the madness that is central Shirdi. The rooms are simply fabulous. They have central air-conditioning, a very nice bed, a three piece sofa, chairs and table, dresser and a nice bath room. The room is well decorated and very pleasing to be in. The rooms either over-look green fields or the hotels swimming pool. The room service is good too.
The food was the crowing glory at this hotel – it was delicious and the variety has to be seen to be believed. The only down-side was the service in the restaurant. I had the distinct feeling the staff was new as they simply stood around not quite sure what to do. Hopefully by now, they will have had some training.
The hotel has a medium sized but clean swimming pool (no diving) and a small Jacuzzi
I can easily say that Hotel Sun-n-Sand is THE hotel to stay in whenever you visit Shirdi. Book well in advance.
