This is my first review on this bike..I wont discuss the technical matters I just share the my experience with this bike SINCE ONE YEAR ;-). Before considering this bike I was eyed on
pulsar 220
karizma zmr
as I have to travel nearly 75 to 80 kms daily, from my home to workplace. So my priorities to buy a bike were
comfort - obviously first choice as I have to travel so much daily
reliability- a bike should not give problems in the middle
3.good power - I get NH4 highway for nearly 18 kms in my way, I had to enjoy speed :-) hence below 150 cc bikes were out of my thinking.
- good off road-ability - wondered? coz apart from luxurious highway, I get one of the worst stretches of road completely filled with pot holes..
So upon hot discussions in my home I finalized it upon 220.
But I then realized my mistake, that I forgot to add mileage as my priority, coz you will have to fill nearly 2 litres of petrol daily, which would become a big dent on my pocket, as I am from a middle class family I seriously sat thinking of other alternatives.
I finalized 150cc because for the sole purpose of mileage I never wanted to loose thrill of biking :-)
i considered
1.pulsar
2.hunk
3.cbz xtreme
4.uni
that time I was never heard about GS.
though uni is wonderfully rider comfortable, thanks its monoshock. somehow it was lacking somewhere, it dint take place in my heart..
now pulsar, I always wanted to have one :-) I simply awestruck with its styling. but I heard my from friends that its maintainance is somehow high. ang you cant sit upon it for long time, your bum will start to ache like wise. so to test this I test rode one p150, means I took home it.nice power delivery for 150cc, but alas, in every other part it doesnt make u happy. ya its not comfortable in long rides, I had to get down twice to give my bum some rest. its suspension is good but whenver I went over any pothole main stand used to hit edges as if its ground clearance is too low. even at the end of ride, I could notice its not as much fuel efficient as unicorn..
talking to hunk and cbz, both I felt were re designed unicorns.. I thought if at all I want to consider I could consider unicorn only..
but stil I could not get satisfied so I started to hunt in internet, accidentally I saw mouthshut.com and for the first time I heard about GS150.
to be frank I really dint like the bike by seeing its photos in net.. but somehow I developed curiosity by reading various user review and wanted test ride one.
I went to laxmi suzuki in davanagere, thinking that before laying hand on uni, will finish formality of seeing this vehicle..and after entering show room, , , boy I was mighty impressed with size and design. photos really dont do justice. it looks better than in photos. paint job, fit and finish of parts, plastic parts, speedo console, everything are of good quality, i fell for it. even switch buttons, u wont feel anything cheap..
with this sweet surprise I asked for a test ride. there was another sweet surprise, ride was mighty comfort, a butter smooth. no sound from anywhere apart from engine and silencer. gear shift was of typical unicorn.. power delivery was also good, considering two heavy people, me and show room fellow, bike pulled cleanly in all gear.. sixth gear is added surprise. I could not check top speed that time as he dint allow me to do that.
friends somehow the bike impressed me and while coming back to home as happens in cinema, saw one IND-SUZUKI zipping past my bus. that model came around 15 year back I think, may be that biker was in80 km/hr I think. I instantaneously thought about suzuki s such impressiveproduct quality.. and considered to give it a try.
2 days later I bought home a brand new shiny greenish blue GS150 :-) I just willshare my one years experience with it..
things which I like
- its colour, this colour is very special. and it looks even moredamn sexy during evening time
2.Ifollowed break in period damn seriously as given in the manual. again, manual is very very elaborative and you could get every information about bike to its minutest details also.
during break in period I dint encounter any sort of problems, pick up and all I dint check really as I wanted to pass break in. mileage remained in the range of 58 to 60, about which I was seriously happy.
and special mention about its comfortability. seat looks sportily contoured but its superiorly padded and wide enough, even wider than ZMR. your bum will love that comfort, ground clearance is sufficiently high, and suspension set up is though not as good as unicorns its pretty comfortable.
