Ishaan has a problem - letters and numbers dance in front of his eyes.
Result? He cant figure out whether theyre dancing up, or down.
Leftways, or on the right side. In short, theyre dancing all the time,
and so fast that he cant read them. Add to that his other problems,
and oh yeah, the fact thats hes EIGHT, and youve got BIG ISSUES!
Thats all I knew about Taare Zameen Par, and went to watch it
expecting an above average film from an above average actor. Besides, I
was curious to see what kind of director Mr. Perfectionist Khan would
turn out to be.
Hats off to you Aamir, and I think you ought to start attending award
ceremonies now. Its not fair that all the awards will have to be
dropped to your doorstep this year, is it?
And yes, its a review so I must attempt to put down my reasons for the declaration.
Alright, here goes.
*Seven reasons why Taare Zameen Par is one of the BEST films of Indian cinema till date:
*1. THIS is responsible film-making. True, I believe that creative
people have the right to tell what story they want to. They have the
right to make a KANK, which stirs debates on news channels for weeks
together because of its controversial subject, or a Saawariya, which
leaves most audiences feeling a grave sense of loss for the 3 hours of
the lives they just gave up to watch a two-line story stretched beyond
belief, and painted in colours that left you depressed for far longer
than those 3 hours. In a country like ours where ignorance on a subject
like childrens issues is rampant, a film like Taare Zameen Par is a
necessary eye-opener. And Aamir Khan has done one helluva job of
opening them wide!
- It reflects todays urban life, where kids are being
schooled.no.trained, for the real world. Theres no room for
mediocrity. Everyones racing to get ahead. And if youre not in the
race, you ought not to exist. Or, if thats not possible, atleast we
can pretend you dont? Like maybe, if you were put away into a boarding
school or something?
- Darsheel Safary, the eight year old protagonist Ishaan Awasthi, whom
you fall in love with before you realise it. And you find yourself
getting angry with his parents for not understanding him, empathise
with him when hes upset and swoop with joy when you get a glimpse into
his beautiful mind.
- Aamir Khan the actor, for this is yet another job done to
perfection, and to be honest, I cannot add anything more to the long
list of superlatives hes been accorded with after every fantastic
performance.
- Aamir Khan the director, for a job done just as flawlessly! What I
especially enjoyed were the moments when he delves into Ishaans mind,
be it his logic for the answer for 9x3, or his way of looking at the
wonderful world outside school or hisCalvin style perspective of his
issues!
The animation and special effects, which are world-class and unlike anything we may have seen before in Indian cinema.
The music and of course, lyrics, which emote the mood of the moment in crystal clear simplicity.
There are several other reasons why Taare Zameen Par is such a briliant
film, I assure you. But Id encourage you to find out for yourself.
Dont miss this one for the world!
