Woo-TANG!

I drank Tang whenever we took trips to the Middle East. In Dubai, it seems that everyone would offer it to you. Now in my own household, I keep a can of it because my husband loves the fresh taste of cold, orange flavored Tang. It has 100% Vitamin C, but really it is not such a healthy drink because of all the refined sugar. You should not drink it as a replacement for fresh orange juice, because fresh orange juice has natural vitamins and anti-oxidants that a powdered drink cannot offer.

I chose Tang, because my husband enjoys a glass on a hot summer day. I recommend you use ice water. I keep a pitcher of cold water in the refrigerator at all times. Pour the water in the glass first, otherwise the Tang powder sticks to the bottom of the glass once you add water. There will be Tang clumps! I add a little less Tang than the package recommends, because some of the sugar never seems to fully dissolve unless you do that. Add some ice, and you are done!

I do not recommend this drink if you are diabetic, obviously, because there is so much refined sugar. Also, if you give it to kids, give it in moderation. It is a good way to get kids drinking water. Some children to not like plain water, but add some Tang, and then gradually lessen the doses as you go. I do not really care for soda, so this is a nice alternative. There is about the same amount of sugar, but no caffeine and carbonation, which can be harsh to the stomach lining. Give Tang a try if you like to experiment with different beverages. It has a long shelf life, so you will not really be wasting money.
