Aria is a bold step ahead by Tata, in a segment never seen before in India. Tata group is slowly moving away from the taxi segment, Vista and manza are value for money products. What Aria lacks is the brand image in premium segment. I had an impression its a innova with few added features or a stretched Indica vista. But this vehicle has enormous road presence- an imposing stance.
The rear is similar to indica, some how I didnt like it. Huge 17" wheels, Chrome finish front grille, ORVM integrated turn indicators all add up the a style quotient. Tata Aria is even better than Innova if we compare the overall design and styling elements of Tata Aria. Its powered the same 2.2 l dicor engine that powers the safari but it much more refined. The gear shift is sleek, the clutch is smoother- doesnt give the truck like feel seen in safari. Engine noise is hardly audible inside the cabin, I think tata has worked a lot in this direction.
Coming to inner space and comfort Tatas bench make and Aria has left no stone unturned. The 1st and 2nd row seats are very comfortable, as good as safaris. last row is cramped best suited for a short ride. Ac with climate control is awesome and vents in b and c pillar make cooling a breeze. Aria is fully loaded with features many are segments firsts: Infotainment system with GPS based navigation, automatic Climate control.
Music system with USB port, aux-in jack and 6 speakers (didnt like the sound quality though) Tata Blue connect to pair upto 5 phones with the infotainment system, Steering mounted controls for infotainment system, Traction and cruize control, all wheels drive, ABS, 6 air bags, reverse parking camera, 6 overhead storage bins on the roof( didnt like them) Spacious luggage compartment, Completely foldable second and third row seats for a flat bed, Height adjustable seat. in shorts it a more car per car promise is well kept in this segment. interior color scheme you have 3 choice.- Black and Plum( look strange), Black and Black ( my fav) Black and Beige( looks cheap).
Hope tata improves is after sale serivces, its not just the product to sell but a long term relation which the dealers are never able to make. They still treat you like a taxi wala. Tata must do something for this.
