Don't use Docomo in Sikkim, Darjeeling & Kalimpong

I had two reliance numbers. A Rim CDMA which I was using for past 3 years and a Reliance GSM. Since both my numbers were of Reliance, I wanted to change one. My CDMA phone was getting too old, so bought a new Nokia 5230 and to go along with the new phone, a new docomo connection.

Why did I choose docomo? Definitely cause of the the attractive call rates and ofcourse the ads too.

After I got the connection the shopkeeper asked me to call 12525 once the signal came on my mobile. I had to wait 3 hours before the signal actually came.

I was told it shares its signal with Aircel along with other Tata networks but than there wasn’t a single signal stick on my handset for most of the day and in most of the places I go to.

Even when there was a full signal, after a while it went off automatically and I had to search for network manually and register it again. I had to repeat this for most of the time.

When I had to travel to different parts of Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong & Siliguri I faced the same problem. No signal, poor reception if the signal is there by chance and poor call connection when by luck you are able to make one.

I wrote to customer care complaining about this. They replied back writing they will be setting up new towers soon. BS!

Their soon’s never gonna come.

Most of my "buddy network" friends who had bought docomo have already broken their sim cards and applied for something better like airtel or vodafone. I did too.

Docomo is worthless, especially in the hills. Do not go for it.

I know you all are sick of the degrading reliance service out here but trust me on this one. Reliance is lot better than Docomo at present.
