After being a loyal tata customer (starting with tata namak since childhood, to first car tata indica, to tata sky to tata indicom broadband), I said why not do the new? It was a new job for me and a new city, so lets do the new!!
sad, but tata doesnt believe in doing anymore. no signal at my house and my office. the only 2 places where I would want my cellphone to work during weekdays. So with a zero usage (even though they charged me 210/- for the plan) I asked them to close my connection.
I got a call from docomos customer care manager (thats what he told me) asking me not to close the account and give docomo another chance. He promised to send an executive to my home asap and have the signal fixed. I said OK. Since then no one ever visited. My account was closed within a week. Then after 1 month I received the first bill of Rs.210.
There was no usage at ALL of that number. Had it been a plan change or something they wouldnt have very easily charged me ex-gratia (i.e. on a per day basis), but here they were, even after disconnecting my SIM (invalidating it) after 1 week of usage (?) they insisted on a wholes months bill plan charge of Rs.200 + taxes = Rs.210. marta kya na karta, I decided to pay the amount.
I had got myself registered at tata docomos website in order to make online payments. However when I tried logging in now, it refused to let me in, saying that my number was invalid. I decided not to take the pain (not to mention the fuel cost) to reach the very few, read almost nil, payment centers. As I had expected, soon enough, I got a call from their collection executives regarding the payment. He asked me if he could come over to my residence for collection and I said sure.
He said hell be there in half an hour and I said it was ok with me, But he never turned up. This exercise repeated for about 3-4 times. Everytime a guy would call me up telling me that hell come for collection in half an hour but never turn up.
Finally my patience gave in and when the next call came, I shouted at the guy and told him if he doesnt come today Ill stop answering his calls and take tata docomo to court / police for harassing him. Surprisingly that worked and despite heavy rains in hyderabad that day, the guy turned up and took the money.The story doesnt end here. I got another call next day asking me to pay up. By now you can well imagine what my response to that was. The guy apologized and I have been living in peace since then. Ameen
