I have a TATA Indica Diesel Car, purchased from CARGO MOTORS on 21-06-2005. I have been facing the problem of HEAVY SMOKE EMISSION & HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION from the date of purchase. On complaining, CARGO MOTORS replaced many parts and dismantled the complete Engine several times but could not fix / solve the problem. Every time I complain, they would keep my vehicle for 4-8 days time for diagnosis & repairs. During each visit, they would drive the vehicle for about 300 to 400 kms test run at my expense and return the car saying it is completely Ok now and the problem will not re-occur. It went on till the warranty expired. Finally they said that there is no problem in the car and we have tested the vehicle.
I purchased the vehicle from Rajpath Club-Showroom as I felt that it is near to my house, but on every visit my Car would have to be sent to their ASLALI HIGHWAY Workshop for Repairs which is about 25-30 kms far. I complained to TATA MOTORS – Mumbai & Ahmedabad offices several times on customer care nos. & vide Letters but they never responded. Finally I complained to the CORE-Online Consumer Helpline which sent them a Notice to which they simply replied that the customer visit the nearest workshop-Cargo motors without any firm action. Then I approached CERC-Ahmedabad which again sent Notices to Cargo Motors & TATA Motors to which they have not yet replied.
CARGO MOTORS dragged this matter till warranty expired. It is almost 2 years but the problem still persists.I approached C.E.R.C. to claim refund of my car’s value or replace this car itself. I even approached W.I.A.A. to get a third party opinion about my problem and they gave report in writing acknowledging my problems. After all this TATA & CARGO MOTORS are still sleeping. I am now planning to go to the courts.I have already incurred about Rs.11-13000 expenses due to the problems in my car and suffered a lot of mental agony.
I advise Mr.TATA that instead of buying the Land Rover & Jaguar Brands, invest some money in customer care like Maruti & Hyndai Motors. Mr.TATA should wake up to the fact that customers like me are buying the Indicas purely because Maruti & Hyndai do not have a Diesel version in the small car segment. With the introduction of SWIFT Diesel, I hope TATAs will bite the dust soon.
