IndicaV2 DLS-Good car

Hello,

I’ve had the Indica V2 DLS model from 2003-2006. I wanted to share this with you though i’ve sold it out and settled for Maruti Swift VXI.First of all I love that car-Indica and sometimes I really miss it whenever I go to a petrol bunk(for swift)-:).

Indica my first car ever came with some manufacturing defects.

a) With A/C on and single driver when tried to start on a moderate inclination, it wouldn’t go.Wrote a letter to the main branch on this and they tried to correct it and finally got an answer that "its the way the car is built.Low pick up".

b) After 3 months, the starter motor went dead. The mechanic from the showroom came to my house, turned the motor manually and took it to the showroom.Later replied that the started motor was wrongly caliberated and hence got it corrected. After that I never had the problem again.

It offered 15kmpl with a/c on in the city roads and 16-17 on the highways.I was lucky to get a car with a/c in very good condition.I had a drive from Chennai to Hyderabad and on the way the right rear tyre blew up and its really hard to feel a flat tyre. But when you have a power steering I guess one wouldn’t hardly feel the difference. After travelling I realized it when a truck driver sounded horn continously to bring my attention that something was wrong with the car.

The rear view mirror inside brings in a lot of glare sometimes totally blinding the eyes.I used to turn it a little away to move the glare away from my vision.Night driving is a little tough on low beam. The car comes with good braking.Regular servie will prove useful.

Proverb: Maintenance pays dividends.

For cars sake, Use the a/c regularly to get the peak of its performance. You will realize it very soon.

Advantages:

> Good mileage no matter how worse your driving is.

> Good A/C

> Good boot space

> Good ground clearance

> Little rough handling

> Can take rough gear shift

> Good rear view while backing up

> Less rattles.Good for bumpy roads

> Big room to store good amount of baggage(I carried a computer, 2 bags, a medium suitcase and lots of cassettes, 3 pairs of shoes. It ate the rear boot space and the rear seat)

Dis-advantages

> Head lamps are not so bright.Low beam lits like bed light

> Low pick up.Sometimes frustrating in bumper-bumper traffic.I think it happens whatever car you drive

> When the clutch is used as needed in b2b traffic you might feel that the pick up has suddenly come down

> A pillar blocks the view to a great extent. One may not even see a car comming from the opposite side while negotiating a curve.(Gotta be very cautious).

> Small wheels for a car of that size.Tata does not want to change it though new models are launched

Shall share my view on Swift soon.

Thanks,

Aditya
