I am a regular visitor of Mouthshut.com. This is my first review forgive me if you dont find this well organized as I am not a editors from Car and Bike magazines.
I bought Indica Xeta GLG in March 2006 from Prerana Motors Banaglore. Initially I felt cheated as even though I was showing interest in Indica turbo released during the same period but sales person managed to convince me to go with Xeta. I am very much satisfied with this vehicle now. I have done 28762 Kms till date which includes few long drives to Karwar, Allepey, Munnar, Wayanad and Kodaikanal and many shorties to Mysore, Ooty and Tirupati and never faced any problem on highways.
Most of the time these trips were in a group with my friends in either Swift or Wagon R. Believe me or not people in my group always fight with each other to come in this car as this is truly comfortable for the passengers compare to other two cars. Swift is probably better when it comes to driving the car. Xeta is very stable on Highways/ Straight roads.
Normally I Drive between 80 and 110 KM/h with 60 to 70 % AC on and to everyones surprise I get milage of close to 17 KM/ L better than other cars in my group. ( Swift 14KM/L and Wagon R 15.5KM/L). In Bangalore traffic I get close to 11km/l with 50% AC on. Max speed I have done is 135KM/ H for just few Kms.I didnt face any issue except traffic/road conditions which didnt allow me to go above 135 and my wife was also not very exited about this. :(
Maintenance Till Date: Wheels which come with the Xeta are of not a good quality and always bends even in small potholes. This was causing wheels balancing problem hence wobbling and vibration in the steering wheel. My service adviser suggested to change the stock wheels with a good quality Alloy wheels which I did a year back and all the related problems got resolved. I am also planning to move on to tubeless tyres in near future.
7 Months back battery was draining out in just 2 days of not using the car. When after three visits to service center it was not resolved then I took help ofTatamotors website. Received a quick response from the dealer Prerana Motors, finally they identified problem with AutoCop Central locking system and same was replaced but they charged me for the same as warranty was over.
Had to replace one of the rear wheel bearing as it started making noise. Reason for this problem could be using a unbalanced wheel for a longer period.
Overall a good car and I am enjoying going on long drives in this car.
PS: Recently on 6th Dec 09 , I did Bangalore to Tirupati in just 4 hours.
Few Tips:
-- Tyre pressure : Front wheels 32 and rear Wheels 30
-- Petrol: I have faith in Bharat Petroleum and always go with normal Petrol.
-- Vehicle is heavy hence never try to become F1 driver means no hard pressing of Acc padel.
-- Gear changes should be around 2000 rpm +_ 100
-- Switch off AC while overtaking
Yesteday I did 150km/h on Nice road.
