I bought this car in Feb 2007 after comparing with Wagon R, Zen Estilo. From the day one I realised that I had made a wrong decision. The fuel economy is very poor 6-7 kmpl in city with AC on. The Engine is virtually dead at lower RPM and with its cranking sound , makes everyone aware of it’s presence. For a petol engine it is very noisy.
The build quality is very very poor. Some of the plastic parts are hand cut to allow for proper fixing. I have been having problems with Gear shift. There were many problems like failure of water spray pump, door limit switches etc. Worst of all was the fixing additional door gasket which I had to coughup from my pocket for preventing water ingress during heavy rain. (The Service center told me that it is not the responsibilty of TATA to fix the water ingress problem).
I do not see any merit in buying this car unless you are getting it free. The only plus point is that you get the advantage of a petrol Engine. And finally the icing on the cake. This car has absolutely no resale value. You would probably consider donating it to someone rather that trying to sell it. I have decided not to buy any TATA cars in future. They are only better off with Trucks.
