This review would have read differently 2 years ago when I first took a Tata 64 kpbs UL connection. Bandwith sucked(hovering always at 30-40 kpbs - little better than a dial-up) and the downtime was greater than uptime including 3 traumatic weeks when I was without a conection owing to aswitch failure with the local cable operator. I should have given up then and there, but truth was, in my locality in Mumbai there were very few other options apart from Cable Net and MTNL(after 3 chakkars of MTNL I failed to get them to even accept my application for a landline so I had little hope of ever getting a BB connection out of them in the near future). besides all other options were proving to be much more expensive. 3 months ago I renewed my TATA connection and upgraded it to a 2 Mbps time-based connection(Quick Power 180). I am happy to say its been great so far.
Great download speeds always averaging 1.8-2 mbps and maxing out at 3 mbps for downloads
Very low downtime(2-3 hours every week). I know this for a fact because I work out of home and use the Net more or less through day and night. Its not great but its MUCH better than earlier
Responsive customer service and quick action. This aspect has improved HUGELY over the past year. Even late in the night I can get through to cust service with no wait time, they are more knowledgeable to solve problems(once or twice, they directed me to change the login page ID and the net worked fine after that and a couple of times they even advised me to change my DNS Server settings) This is a much higher quality of support than "please remove the cable and plug it in again kind of advice I got earlier. They file complaint numbers as usual and threaten to take 24 hours to remedy the situation but by and large, the situation is rectified within a few hours.
I would happily recommend this service to anyone who wants a good connection at reasonable price. But I would recommend checking with neighbours/ people in your area before buying. As they use the local cable network, quality will vary across areas. By the way, I also recommend a time based rather than MB based plan. It works out far more economical in the long run if youre a heavy downloader as download speeds are so fast. My connection has lasted till the tail-end of the validity period. And I recommend the high speed plans more than the UL plans. It truly gives you the joy of high-speed!
