I have been a long time user of Tata Sky - since Oct, 2006. Initially, I was quite impressed with the way the whole installation process was carried out extremely professionally. However, that apart, the whole experience has been terrible. Number of channels has gone down from the time I took the connection, at the same time, the prices of the packages have gone up. The nail on the coffin was when the sports channels were taken out of the Super Saver package (at that time costing Rs.300/-) and put it into three separate entities with a combined price of Rs. 315/-, with a further reduction of 2 more channels.
That apart, new channels are put into costly add-on packages. Technical support over the phone is poor and most of the times they try to send someone home to address the issue. That is great one might say. The downside is such a visit costs Rs. 350/-. For something as trivial as TV, thats way too expensive.
I have also been facing continuous problems with the signals. Call Customer Care, and they have standard answers: "Please wait till the weather clears, Sir." "Will forward your concern to the higher authorities." "We are here to help you sir, extremely sorry for the inconvenience".
And then, the number of Hindi music channels - just 2. Only MTV and Channel V. NO B4U, NO 9XM, NO Zee Music. WOW! Compare that to other DTH providers like Dish TV and Big TV, thats a pittance. They also have audio channels, which Tata Sky doesnt have.
