It’s me again.
It’s been almost 20 months now... since I purchased the car.
My warranty is over now and I took the car to the first paid servicing today. The result: Horrible!!!
I would advise to all those who buy Tata cars!!!!: GET EXTENDED WARRANTY !!!!! If you DON"T>>> then you are going to REGRET...just like me!!!!
Your head will shake if you turn on the engine and rest your head on the head-rest. the vibration is really annoying!!!
No matter how many times you replace the fog lamp bulb, , , , after 1 month, it will just blow up. it costs around Rs.80. I have given up in fixing it.
The engine noise and vibration is just too much to bear.(if you sat in innova, you would know.)
The clutch is like pain in the ass!!!! I actually developed spondylitis because of the clutch. It’s so hard that if you drive for a long time, your back hurts.
when you buy a tata car, the guys at the dealer/showroom will insist in doing WAXOL coating or sth. I did it. But there wasn’t much difference anyways. it’s waste of money.
I bought a seat cover from Showroom which was a biege color and synthetic leather. It was pretty good. but cost me Rs.4500. I would recommend you guys to put this seat cover.
The car has a lot of trouble.
Gearbox replacement within 5000km under warranty(new piece costs Rs.66000)
The Door would not shut. So the whole rubber stripping had to be redone.
Replaced Headlamp assembly 3 times in 20 months.(warranty) If you don’t have one, then, it would cost you 3500 rupees per piece!!!! and be aware, , , the water gets clogged during monsoons!!!!!!
Had oil-leakage. it took 2 visits to fix the problem!!! - 1 week duration. The gearbox packing was loose. So I had to replace it under warranty.(costs around rs.5000)
Car broke down in the middle of flyover at Pune university junction. the faulty starter motor(Rs. 20, 000) and faulty crank-sensor was the problem. sadly, my warranty got over and they took towing charges etc... the bill came around Rs.6000
Now, at 29500km and 20 months old, I did the paid servicing which needed fuel filter change(Rs. 2100), engine decarb.(Rs.1000), etc, regular servicing, . And unfortuneately, the small piece of paper got stuck on the fan blower. The whole dashboard needed to be taken out for the job. It cost me Rs.2500. so the bill, today, came around Rs.9000 out of which Rs.5000 was the labor. So I would really, really recommend for you guys to opt for EXTENDED WARRANTY, if you didn’t already.
The guys at B.U Bhandari service center, at wakad, pune, told me that my safari has rear suspension bushing problems and worn out front disc pad. the total cost is around 7000 rupees!!!!
I said I will do it on my next servicing.... but, what the hell!!!! suspension problem at 29500km!!!!!????
got A.C gas recharged at 20 months period. I think it is absurd!!! Getting a A.C gas recharged for a car less than 2 years??!!!
My blaupunkt stereo needed servicing. it would play any discs!!!! never buy blaupunkt!!! go for the sony or pioneer, or sth.... blaupunkt has the problems of not reading the R/W cds.(Rs.350 for servicing the deck)
so, to sum up, I spent around 2 months in the garage, each time spending not less than 2 hours.
and the money???
guys, I would recommend NOT to go for the TATA cars. The cost of ownership is simply too high!!!
Even though you get the extended warranty thing... it’s no use!!! you will always have to visit your service center regularly. I have been so often at B.U Bhandari Service station at wakad, pune, that I know all the service advisors...!!!!!
i love the car. no doubt. the powerful engine, the huge space. but, the inferior quality and the unreliable performance is letting me down. I have decided to opt for Toyota innova instead.
The car was cheap. there was a difference of 2 lakh rupees at the time when I bought my car. But, in the end, it’s going to work out to be the same.
My advise. Go for innova. Not Tata. My experience with Tata was really disappointing and in future, I would not buy and recommend the car to anyone I know. that’s for sure!!!!
and if you don’t believe me, I have the bills right here with me to prove my points!!!!!
and I have only given the servicing to B.U Bhandari , wakad, pune.
Although, Tata has acquired Jaguar and Rover, I seriously doubt that it can change.
