If you are suffering from a serious lack of ideas and innovations, do the best of what is available to you. Our ancestors have left us, their progeny zillions n zillions of ideas. The film industry always in need of brilliant ideas uses this same tecknik to rise from its slumber time n again.
Hollywood, too is no mean exception. This summer has seen a flood of sequels which have not kept their promise of keeping us glued to our seats. This sequel trend which is the Hollywoods euphemism for self-plagiarism has also never been a sure money-raker. But on the contrary it has been noted that the sequels never live up to the expectations of the fans of the originals.
Terminator 3 is by far the best box-office flop sequel this year. Expectations have been high
regarding this movie as it was seen as a resurrecting pillar to the plummeting career graph of Arnie. The criticism notwithstanding, T3 was made and what a super-dud it has proved to be.
T3 has none of the qualities it prequels possessed. Neither the super-intelligent storyline nor compelling histrionics of the lead actors nor the humane side of the machines. It is just the standard stale fare of cars buses buildings boom-bang-and-down. The explosives are always there tearing the patience of even a die-hard T2 fan to bits.
Now to the story if there was any. Now the then young John Connor has grown into a handsome hunk. The skynet has sent another terminator back from the future to exterminate John n all his allies. Its told that the D-Day that was supposed to take place has only got procrastinated and not put to an end altogether. Its the duty of our very own cyborg to save the human. Not that twisty a story line. The only twist is when Arnie misleads them to a nuclear bunker which John is made to believe is the nuke itself.
T3 fails in all the aspects its predecessors succeeded. Producers n directors alike need to understand that the audience is no stupid fool nemore( if they were ever ). Just having the stars and the technological hullabaloo guarantess no success. It is the story that counts.
The age on Arnie is clearly showing. It also needs to be remembered that cyborgs dont age. Its the same model always.
As for the female, built-for-the-kill, its nothing much useful whatsoever, maybe for enhancing the curiosity of the audience. Maybe it can be even reasoned with that she was for the purpose of titillation. Some scenes were totally unnecessary.
As for the dialogues, they are totally cliched. Ill be back , Shell be back are just there as an irritant. We have heard them so many times that its almost irritating to hear them from the star again n again.
On whole an unexpected superdud which ill recommend for the super-huge fans of Arnie who are very very optimistic.
On the brighter side you can watch this if you want to have a good laff with your best buddies commenting throughout the film :)
