The movie is set in the world war era and deals with four youngsters Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy tormented by the war move on to a safer place, the castle of on professor Diggory. Fate leads them into a magical wardrobe which opens into another world, the world of Narnia. Narnia is ruled by evil white witch Jadis. Through a sequence of events the witch manages to woo Edmund by promising to make him the king of Narnia if he brings the other three too to her. Her objective behind this ploy is to thwart a profecy which says that her evil reign of Narnia will end when two sons of adam and two daughters of eve join forces with ASLAN the rightful king of Narnia.
But Edmund fails to lead the other three to Jadis and she imprisons him with the hope that the other three will come searching for him.
As the story unfolds further, Peter, Lucy and Susan with the help of ASLAN the lion rescue Edmund and what follows is a fierce battle between the good and the evil.
The movie has some real touching moments especially the one when ASLAN is sacrificed by the witch. I m not revealing the plot too much by describing other shots. Just watch to see them.
The locations are breathtaking and so are the visual effects.
All the charactors give powerful performances.
Characterisation is superb. Specially the witch and the lion. The support cast of the mermaids, unicorns, wolves, one eyed monsters etc too are great.
My personal vote however would be to ASLAN the lion who towers over everyone else especially due to the voice over by LIAM NEESON.
Over all a great movie to watch
