I am not one who generally goes for animations, but this week there just weren?t many choices. I went into the hall with my kid sister (and fingers crossed) and came out after having had a helluva time. Disney Pixar has done the incredible, by putting so much in an animation film.
The story is about Mr. Incredible, an incredibly big and strong man who is on a world saving spree and ElastyGirl ( she can stretch like elastic)who gives him serious competition at it. They catch the goons and, job done, hand over things to the police. They enjoy a lot of goodwill with the people and have their names splashed on front covers.
However good times come to an end when a man slaps a lawsuit on them claiming Mr. Incredible?s attempt to save his life SPOILT HIS DEATH !! This is followed by more and more lawsuits against Mr. Incredible and other superheroes that the government cannot afford to defend.
So it chooses to retire these superheroes and sends them undercover to do mundane jobs and under obscure identities. Mr. Incredible assumes the identity of Bob Parr and lives a frustrated life working in an insurance firm. His wife Helen ( or ElastyGirl) takes care of their three super-kids - Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack at home until ????
It?s an effort really, to hold back the rest but the movie is worth watching yourself.
With all its twists and turns, you will remain glued to your seats till the very end. The story line is good; it?s written by someone with a great imagination and has a lot of originality.
There is use of intelligent humor. Above all the characters have a very human feel about them. They have worked on giving some individuality to every character, like Helen imbibes all the characteristics of a modern aggressive woman while being protective towards her family.
Expressions and dialogues are natural that there are times you don?t realize you are watching animation. And the stony expression of Superman or the ever-lost look on Heidi?s face as she called ?Graaaanpa! Grraaanpaa!? are not what I mean by expressions.
The scenes where the family of superheroes is together are the best. I especially recall one where Helen has a trying time controlling her kids into not using their super-powers (for they must look like ordinary people), while making funny noises coaxing her youngest child to eat. Other scenes to watch out for is where Helen ( ElastyGirl) stretches to assume different shapes to protect her family and how Jack-Jack fights the villain. You can actually feel that cartoons have come of age.
Other characters in the movie are-?IncrediBoy? who is Mr. Incredible?s pesky fan; Frozone (Mr. Incredible ?s friend) is another superhero who (what else?!) freezes water and Edna who designs indestructible, fire/bullet proof, friction resistant dresses for the superheroes .
This is indeed the best animation movie made, at least better than any I?ve ever seen. The movie moves fast and does not drag or become repetitive. It is very laughable, very thrilling, very entertaining and unpredictable. Villains are not stereotyped like the Green Goblet of Spiderman though the self-learning machine seems a stale idea. The film is released as ?Hum Hain Lajwaab? in Hindi. My advise- GO WATCH IT !!
