The magic of RODGER HAMMERSTEIN

As a serious music buff I was very interested to check out ’’ The sound of Music?. The previous generation has praised and hailed it as a classic. Interestingly I was more curious about the music, let alone the movie. After seeing the movie all I did was rush to the nearest music world and get the cassette.

I could understand why so many people around the world have loved and cherished this movie. I could understand the enthusiasm of my parents when they were watching the movie. It was a film of their generation. But it would be better if I stop associating the word Generation for this one. This soundtrack has the magic of capturing almost all its listeners, be it old or young. Such is the quality of its music and richness of its lyrics

. Richard Rodgers, the composer & Oscar Hammerstein, the lyricist combine together and give us one breathtaking musical. A musical par excellence. Needless to say, the movie was also brilliant & I cant believe it was taken in the 60’s.Its cinematography was awesome to say the least. But lets get back to the soundtrack.

The songs which captured me the most were, ?am on 16’’, ’’do re me’’, ’’ In my child hood’’, ’’eidelweis’’, ’’sound of music’’, ’’goodbye’’, ’’maria’’ and above all ’’favourite things’’ to name a few. What was even more brilliant was its background score and the ? Favorite things BG was terrific.

The sound of Music was remembered for the great songs, especially’’do re me’’, ’’eidelweis’’ and ’’favourite things?. But for me the most brilliant, emotionally charging and truly motivating song was ’’climb every mountain?.

There are very few songs that can bring tears to your eyes by its sheer tune and https://lyrics. This is one. Rightfully at the end of the movie the vocal choir sings this piece and it is soul stirring to say the least.

The simple, yet meaningful lyrics just blew me away.

’’A Dream that would need, all the love you can give;

Everyday of your life, love as long as you need’’

There could be no better way to finish this film. Its no surprise that ’’The sound of Music’’ got all Oscars related to music. This Rodger & Hammerstein classic will live as long as music does.

(I could keep giving it stars)
