“Manmadha Raasa
Manmadha Raasa
Kanni Manasa Killathey
Kannula Lesa
Kannula Lesa
Enna Kannakku Pannaathey…..”
Not only in our ACDs did we hear this song but even every nook and corner of Tamil Nadu enjoyed playing / singing this song. But although the music of Dhina made this song quite catchy, did the lyrics really deserve being sung right from a 3 year old child to the grannies ?
The aforesaid song is an ideal example of how a Cine song should be and should not be !
Why I don’t Recommend this Song ?
• First, the Lyrics that are full of nothing but arousing sexual feelings / desire
• The Dappaangoothu Choreography, rather than making us dance with such a fast-beat song, the kind of un-rhythmic dance movements irritates us to the core
• The Camera, which angle by angle explains the shapes of the Heroine to you
Why I Recommend this Song ?
• The fast beats kindle our enthusiasm when heard on the Audio CD
• You can freely have a look at the Kolar Gold Fields (Mines) &
• The Lyrics would get you ready for your forthcoming night (??!!)
THIRUDA THIRUDI
= = = = = = = = = = =
The title means thief or a crook – thiruda indicate the masculine and thirudi means the feminine. Following Dhanush’s mega-hits Thulluvadho Ilamai with Sherin and Kaadal Konden with Sonia Agarwal, Thiruda Thirudi turned a mega-commercial hit too, significantly increasing the wage of Dhanush to another Crore !
Although Subramaniam Siva (Director) has carved a very good storyline and a screenplay for Thiruda Thirudi, the lyrics of the songs and the unappealing choreography have spoiled the picture to a great extent.
THE STORY
= = = = = = =
Dhanush belongs to a very lower-middle class family and he is absolutely a happy-go-lucky irresponsible youth. Chaya Singh is from a Telugu Traditional family and though she keeps roaming about with her friends, she is a kind of highly ambitious and career oriented girl.
Dhanush and Chaya Singh meet up inadvertently and one day, while riding her two-wheeler, Chaya Singh meets with an accident on the road as a result of misunderstanding Dhanush’s caution from her behind. Though Dhanush admits her in the hospital, Chaya Singh thinks Dhanush was totally responsible for her accident and as both start teasing each other, they develop a deep detestation towards each other.
As Dhanush is always being scolded by his father for his irresponsibility, he leaves for Chennai in order to prove himself. Chaya Singh incidentally gets a good job at Chennai and unknowingly stays in the same Apartment where Dhanush stays. The rest of the story utterly revolves around Dhanush and Chaya Singh and whether their hatred towards each other subsided or continued and whether Dhanush proved his responsibility to his parents or not.
THE CHARACTERS
= = = = = = = = = = =
Vasu (Dhanush)
Dhanush as the Hero Vasu has acted very casually as a reckless & easy-going person. In the scenes where he surreptitiously takes his food without the knowledge of his authoritarian father and when he keeps complaining to his mother about father, he has acted as a very cute & immature lad. When he is seriously on the look out for a suitable career and during his romance with Chaya Singh, he has performed his portions flawlessly. Worth a mention here is his excellent dance movements in “Manmadha Raasa….” and “Azhaga Irukkaanga…..” songs, which reveals his dedicated hard-work.
Viji (Chaya Singh)
Except for the songs, Chaya Singh as Viji, mostly appears in very decent Churidhars. Being a relatively new face, she has shown wonderful expressions whenever she mistakes Dhanush and whenever she develops fights with him. She has presented herself as a totally different person when she gradually falls in love with Dhanush and when she struggles very hard to express her love to Dhanush. She has performed her part exceptionally well in the song “Manmadha Raasa…….” too. Overall, a very good choice for her character in Thiruda Thirudi.
Dhanush’s Father (Singer Manicka Vinayagam)
He is an apt choice for his character. He has performed very well as a very responsible and caring father and in places where he insults his son and at a moment, when comes to know that his so called irresponsible son has really achieved something in life, his constantly changing expressions are an added charm to the movie.
MUSIC BY DHINA
= = = = = = = = = = =
The most popular Television Serials Music Director Dhina has done his best to present a lively music for Thiruda Thirudi. The Chithi Serial’s Title Song “Kanninmani Kanninmani ……” Song which was heard every nook and corner of the state made Dhina very famous almost overnight and Thiruda Thirudi is yet another successful movie for him. Honestly, it were those lyrics that spoiled the songs ultimately.
Thiruda Thirudi has seven songs altogether viz., the peppy “Ayur Vetha Azhagi……”, the massive hits “Azhakaga Irukanga….” and “Manmatha Rasa……”, the other not-too-popular ones “Mutham……”, “Thiruda Thirudi……..”, “Unnai Paartha……” and “Wonder Kulavi………”.
A good attempt by Dhina in general !!
A FEW GOOD / BAD CLICKS
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
• Chaya misunderstanding Dhanush’s comment about her “Good Bag” as “Good Back” is really laughable
• Chaya imagining that Dhanush is behind her, expressing her love for him very elaborately and shocked to find the whole set of people of the Apartment right behind her hearing her entire story is funny
• The Apartment President’s sexy daughter often trying to induce Dhanush and her awkward dance with Dhanush during the Apartment’s Annual Day Function is nothing but a purely unwanted commercial touch of the Director
• Chaya and Dhanush constantly keep teasing each other is an interesting watch !
Overall, Thiruda Thirudi is an interesting commercial masala blend of good comedy and a very decent love and a carefree youth turning very responsible and achieving good things in life has been presented well on screen by the Director. But for the discomfited lyrics of the songs and a few awkward dance movements, Thiruda Thirudi is worth a watch at least once !!
Cheers’
