Practical Training is Best

  • Why do you wake up early? For going to school.

  • Why do you go to school? For learning.

  • Why do you learn? For getting marks.

  • Why do you need marks? For getting a good rank.

  • Why do you need a good rank? Coz Dad wants me to.

  • Why does Dad want that? Coz I need pass to the next class.

  • Why should you pass? Coz I need a job.

  • Why do you need a job? For earning money.

  • Why do you need money? For eating.

  • Why do you eat? For living.

  • Why do you live? Er… Coz I’ve born.

  • Why have you born? To wake up early and go to school !!!

The above lines depict my conversation with my 6th std. neighbor. He says that he lives coz he learns and learns coz he lives. He hasn’t realized the meaning in life & learning yet. On the contrary, education means living a better way of life. Whom to blame? What to blame? And how to blame? Let’s see these after a short commercial break…

A Review on Ooty.

<<THE ART OF LIVING>>

Why are we born? Why do we live? I never knew the answers to these questions b4 reading the following quote that was written on a Girls school compound wall. Wonder why I went there?

You have a unique mission in this world,

If you fail to do it, no one else will be able to do it uniquely.

I feel that there should be some meaning in our life and one should do some good to the people of the present and the future. What was luxury yesterday has become the necessity of today. In man’s endeavor to make a paradise of this world, he is in continuous effort to invent ways of achieving it. Also he believes to be the most superior living being on the planet and a need to distinguish him from the other life forms. This he calls it as the culture, science and technology. The contribution to these is brought about by knowledge gained by learning. Now understand why we go to school?

<<EDUCATION IN INDIA>>

That Indians posse a very high IQ is a known fact. But without cultivation even the most fertile lands are not of any use. Education is supposed to mould these young minds into beautiful brains. But what is happening in India actually? Is this cultivation done properly, they say that the young minds are the masterminds of tomorrow. Is it properly guided?

<<THE PROS>>

1.The syllabus covered is very wide; History & Geography are also given importance till 10th std.

2.Theoretically the syllabus is very good. All the basic laws are covered in the school level.

3.Mathematics is given more importance and the portions taught are of high order.

4.Moral Science classes are given to teach moral values.

5.A second language is also taught.

<<THE CONS>>

1.Some portions repeat every year.

2.Practical training given is of low order.

3.Every student should be taught domestic appliance mechanisms practically.

4.They say that the Baghavat Gita & Bible have solutions to all problems in life; they could be included in the Moral Science classes.

5.Students should be encouraged to ask doubts. This is very important in understanding.

6.Hindi should be made compulsory in all states.

7.Industrial training can be given for 11th std students.

8.Character and personality development classes should be given.

<<VERDICT>>

Recently people have started saying that the portions are too bulky, I strictly don’t agree with it. Having completed my +2 just a year b4, I found lots of time to study. Ever 2hrs per day is sufficient to get the best college in your state provided you study with concentration. Another thing people rave about the education system is the examinations. I feel exams are a must, or else how could the student test his abilities and develop writing skills? What the system lacks is practical learning, which greatly hinders the student to develop workmanship. Learning should not be done for marks but for understanding and applying. I’d be very happy to see the Govt. bring this practical education soon and I bet Mr. Kalams view on 2020 will sure succeed…

Best Wishes.
