Well, I was just wondering if all business sense just walked out of town. I am sure you visit so many websites everyday, but I tell you this, ladies and gentlemen, that the way Businesses are done around here, I am sure these guys are bound to burn their hands very soon and then tell their children never to look at doing Business Again.
Here are the Mistakes they Make : Offline Businesses
- Customers are vital to us, their satisfaction is our prime goal - Sounds good, right? But there is nothing these guys do, to satiate this goal. Nothing at all. people are way too absurd. Check this out - I go to a famous mall, here in hyderabad, and this is what I hear from an attendant Kya hona Saab? - Bhai Saab, Yaha pe habibs Kaha Hai? - Kya habib? - Habib Beauty Saloon - How, hai na - Upar 2nd floor pe - Kaisa Jana Saab?- pehli baar Aaraha Hoon - Arrey Time kaiku Waste karrey? - padne Nahi aata Aapko? Udhar hai likha Hua, Lift Here Udhar jaake Lift karo aap - Kya, samjhe? - Like a moron, I nod my head and say thank you. He never reciprocates . My point is, this guy is a fresh graduate, Dressed smartly ( I was not talking about an Auto Driver or a Door Attendant. So get the point?
No point in trying to build huge, swanking malls, when you cannot talk properly to your customers. You have had a bad day, STILL you need to shove your ego somewhere deep. I for one, I am not going to visit that place again. I have better places to go to.
Most offline Businesses, especially small business those eager bill-gates wannabes, just open shop and expect people to walk in - Excuse me? Why would I want to walk into your business? What? You open a shop - whatever, be it a printing press, a supermarket, a bakery and people just walk in? But why? Have you told me whats so special about your business that others cannot give me? Tell me, My Dear Respected Business man, Would you buy your product or service yourself?
And please, for heavens sake, grow out of that middle-class mentality of saying Itna Kaafi hai? Kya marketing karenge re bhai - Paisa kitna hota maalum? Well, Honestly, You dont maalum anything if you havent given marketing a serious thought. And it doesnt always have to be newspapers and TV, there are other ways to do it. Almost at no cost. And please, Marketing is not an event, that you do it once and wait for Mr. Miracle to come and take you for a road trip, This marketing is a process. You have to keep doing it. Always.
Online:
This is funny, Your websites are mostly done by website designers and they still look like what-comes-out-from-my-bottoms. Hello? There are free website templates which look better than your corporate sites, pal. I have a free website, which you can see in my profile thats much better than most Indian websites. What are you upto?
Where is the content on your site? People on the net are looking for information. They dont mind paying for quality information even. But where, in the name of Internet, is it?
There is something called Opt-in Email Marketing That means that you take prior permission from people visiting your site, and have opted-in to receive a newsletter or ezine. Are you doing this? Do you have a database of your customers?Do you do anything about it? Do you know what a waste of opportunity this is. This can fetch you more in sales, than a huge Hoarding out there in the city. And that email marketing is 0 cost.
Get real people, do some reading. If you cannot, just ask. But dont let your business down.
All the best
