Tricks of the Trade

Listed below are a few trend-based criteria which can be used as survival tips for an actor / wannabe actor / star and wannabe star of this generation.

Disclaimer:

  1. The probability of success entirely depends on the method and effort used to implement the tips.

  2. In order to accommodate new trends, the tips have to be subjected to continuous inspection and modification.

*DO’S

Tip 1: Gear up with a different get-up**! Get-Ups have always been there but ‘The Get-up Hype’ is relatively a new thing to Bollywood and Kollywood. Get ups are not only to add a touch of realism; they also present an actor a perfect chance to ‘show-off talent’.The external Package does matter a lot. Just a few Captures of the new get-up are enough to create great impressions and enormous expectations on the minds of the audience.

Tip 2: Play Safe! The pop-corn munching, multiplex audience might have started experiment a lot on recent times, but there are a few niches where they usually get it all wrong. They don’t know the basic difference between the art of under-playing and blatant non-acting. After all, if not the great acting a few hours of a theatre’s darkness induced dumbness, can make them to appreciate any damn movie.

Tip 3: Get Real Choosy! Vanish suddenly and re-appear with a bang. It generates curiosity. The choosier the actor becomes, more inquisitive the audience becomes. And of course, the actor can say any of the following really ‘in’excuses like, ‘I took time to re-access my priorities’& ‘I took time to study the back ground of the role and get in to the skin of the character’ blah, blah….

*DON’TS

Tip 4: Don’t try to be extra entertaining! **Mannerisms no longer endear audience. The mature audiences usually passively sit back and watch, while their brain actively criticizes and analyses the movie. They don’t want anything that interferes with their rational thoughts, like say, easily impersonate-able mannerisms. So any attempts to‘Entertain’ will increase their wrath on the actor.

Tip 5: Don’t try to save a bad script! ‘A bad script is a bad script’. No matter, how hard the entire cast tires to patch up with acting skills; a movie with a bad script will go to the drain. Any attempt to try save a badly scripted movie, will back fire. The Back firing will have a lingering effect. It will need a lot of effort to erase the memory of the bad act from the minds of the highly judgmental section of the people.*

*EXTRA TIPS AND GUIDELINES

1) The Deadly Combo Tip:Tip 1 & 3 together is perfect for a current sensation! ‘Back with a Bang and a New Get-Up**’combination is deadly enough to set expectations soaring sky high! Moreover, the actor is safe even without applying Tip 2. The actor can even practice what is not advised by Tip 4!

2) The Super StarTip: Be ready for all that Jazz! Handling of Media! A fairly decent combination of CommonSense, Comic Timing and Cleverness are some of the Essential skills that are required to shine as a distinguished star among a galaxy of other stars. Shunning inhibitions, Flaunting Success, Radiating Confidence and Standing Tall against the Media glare, Tough competition and Short lived fame are the unique qualities of an extra shiny Star who can hog the limelight and deserve the adulation with casual flair.

3) Guidelines for Longevity of Stardom: The celebrity is the exaggerated projection of a fan’s secret illusions of greatness, beauty and success. Every surviving celebrity usually uses this for the maximum personal profit. But, being ‘A Surviving star’ is by no means an easy job.Constant rediscovery of self and strict adherence to the dignity rule (not letting your hair down in public) are expected. Else, the sadistic media is there to make a cruel joke of the star’s steep fall

Qualities expected from a dignified star:(A dignified, surviving star is someone who is given

the fruit of success but is not allowed to taste it.)

  1. To always prefer humility to the blunt truth

  2. Follow conventions judiciously

  3. Create the illusion of Ultimate Perfection.

4) Prelude to the fall: The fan-celebrity relationship is a tyrannical relationship. A fan imposes a few rules that a few a celebrity should follow. Otherwise, the celebrity falls out of grace. The celebrity is then forced to experience the rough side of the extra special treatment

Factors that disqualify a star from being a star:

  1. Exposure due to constant Public appearance

  2. Blunt Political (In-)correctness

  3. Basic failure to meet expectations

To the reader: Thisis my most skeptical review. Don’t know what made me write it. Frankly, these are words that instantiated directly from the stream of thoughts. It could be flawed, vague or even nonsensical. However, comments are eagerly expected!
