How about designing a Steering Wheel which soothes your Both Palms when you are on Drive Say from Zero to infinite miles?
This is might be a common difficulty that people might have faced but no one has reported or surfaced as yet in form of scientific articles which needs to be resolved. This is my humble try to bring it Noticed to Design Team.
I have purchased Maruti Alto LXI last year(Sep 2006) and I have driven the car for about
6000+ km. Earlier I use to feel very comfortable as such may be I did not realized at that time the problems caused by long drive due to some radical design of equipment of Car Like Steering wheel, Seats Etc .As per my observation there are two major parts to which driver is attached to while driving a car and he make use of these parts around 85% of all instruments/controls, those are
*1) Steering Wheel.
2) Seats.*
Problem with Steering wheel.
- The Steering wheel of Alto is very thin which leads to Not to have proper grip
On steering wheel for both the palms of Adult.
Results: - Needs more efforts to get and keep the grip on Steering wheel which leads to pain in all ten fingers.
- On long drive on highway when driver try to use or press the horn button of the steering wheel to sound the horn most of the time/Very often driver use the
Thumb of Right or left hand to make use of horn.
(It is very difficult or not very safe to use the right or left palm to press the horn button resulting loosing 50% of the Grip on steering wheel while vehicle is in high speed( above 40 km/hr).
# high speed 40 km/hr: - I have observed that Electronic Power steering wheel cuts off above 40 km/hr)
Results: - Cause term pain in the area of first metacarpal bone(metacarpal bone of the thumb) and its all adjacent Muscles and tendons.
*Seats: -
*Seats does not support your all back resulting you have to stop or get out of car after every 2 hours( person with average height 5.8") and Back pain at lower back.
