I guess F2 is a much over-rated bike. I am not sure if only my experience is bad or several other people have suffered.
The mileage has never gone above 51 kmpl (they claim it should give atleast 60 in city). The suspension doesnt work on moderately bad roads (the city roads that have fewer potholes). The brakes make embarrasing noises in rainy season.
When I bought the bike, the fuel tank was leaking (from the point where the fuel tank gauge is fitted into the tank). I also get a feel that a single unit fuel tank cap is a bad idea as the rubber lining inside the cap wears out. Every fuel tank has a breather to let out the petrol fumes, but my bike emits much more petrol smell than what I have normally experienced with other bikes.
My F2 will complete 2 years very soon and I have realised that it wont get a decent re-sale value. Bikes like Yamaha RX-100/135, Old Fiero, Pulsar gets a much better value.
TVS - just because they made some good bikes in the past - have stoppped paying any attention to the service aspect. Every tom, dick and harry now owns a TVS showroom and service station. The result is - poor service.
Go for Pulsar, it is definitely better, more male than F2.
