Music at its best

Music is my life. I have listened to all kinds of music, and do not have a particular favourite genre of music. It totally depends on my mood on what kind of music I am going to listen. So, in my list of 20 best English songs, you will songs of every genre.

My list my contradict some readers views. This is purely my opinion not based or influenced by some others rankings or reviews. I am always open for comments.

So, let’s have the countdown:

20) To the Moon and back - Savage Garden

When I first heard this song, I first noticed the intro guitar music. The intro encouraged me to hear this song further. The beat and rhythm goes very well throughout the song. As I am a guitar fan, I liked the spanish guitar in the middle of songs. This song may end up as one of the greats. But, more are coming up.

19) Smooth - Santana

Talking about guitars, this one is a great from a superb guitarist - Santana. Rob Roy sings this song so smoothly that the title really suits it. This one will get your foot-tapping and make you do a bit of hip-hop.

18) November Rain - Guns N Roses

A great number from an equally great band. The video will go over the head of many, but it do have some deep meaning. The song starts very well with piano, and ends with good guitar number. For rock and love songs fan, this one will satisfy them to a great extent.

17) Careless Whispers - George Michael

This is a love song for the broken hearted. George Michael and Kenny G team up to bring an everlasting number. George Michael sings his heart out and Kenny G gives a soothing feeling throughout the song. I can hear this song any number of times.

16) Come Undone - Duran Duran

Many lists have this song missing. This is a great number, which will grow on to you gradually and slowly. This is a song to be heard when you are a bit disturbed and want calmness around you. Addiction to this song is normal.

15) Hotel California - Eagles

This song asks you to come to a land, which is happy and far away from all your worries. It nearly succeeds to take you there. With not many musical instruments assisting this song, it is completely based on the talents of a good singer. Hear this one as well.

14) Firestarter - Prodigy

Warning: Don’t play this song if you have heart patients around you. If there are none, then have it at the maximum volume. This is a great number. This songs includes genre like Trance, Techno, Metal and Rock. Many say that this song is AntiChrist. But they are wrong as this is a great dance number.

13) Give in to me - Michael Jackson

I have heard nearly all MJ songs, but this one stands out. The guitars will make you hear this song again and again. MJ has sung this song well, as he does for his other songs. It features in his album, ’Dangerous’, which is a must buy. It is his best album to date.

12) That’s why - Michael Learns to Rock

First of all, the band name got me excited. I thought, King of Pop is learning to Rock? But, then I discovered a great band with superb numbers. All of their songs are great, but That’s why is my favourite. It is a beautiful love song for all the people in the world who have lost their heart and found it broken.

11) Now and Forever - Richard Marx

Talk about love songs, and you cannot resist this one. If you want to impress a lady, just send in the lyrics of this song. You will surely succeed. Yes, it is a proven formula. Don’t ask me who tried it!

10) Ray of Light - Madonna

After hearing this song, I gasped and said, ’What a song?’. A hyper-fast track from a great singer. She has given many super hits, but I like this one. A great number to play in wild parties.

9) Return to Innocence - Enigma

Michael Cretu’s band - Enigma, is my favourite. This song and its video is superb. Many of their songs are good. I love all of them. But some people twitch their noses after hearing them. Many super hit songs of Hindi films are copied from Enigma songs. Specially, Rakesh Roshan copies a lot. Have you heard’Bharo Maang Bharo’ from Sabse Bada Khiladi? It is copied from an Enigma song. There are many, but I should restrict myself and say that this is a great song.

8) Right here, right now - Fatboy Slim

What can you call this song? Techno, Trance, Pop or Rock? It is undecided. But it is sure that it is a very good number. The video is also good showing the Evolution of man. It is a dance number, which will make you sway.

7) My heart will go on - Celine Dion

Three things are sure about this song. First it is the greatest love song. Second, it is a great song sung by a great singer. Third, it is a great song by a great singer for the greatest movie ever made. I think I have made myself clear.

6) Black Magic Woman - Frank Sinatra

Have you heard of Frank Sinatra, the man with golden voice? Hardly anyone. But this singer made a mark in the field of music with some great songs. One of them is his number one, and mines too, Black Magic Woman. It is a jive number, with great https://lyrics. Get a copy of Frank Sinatra now.

5) Ode to my family - Cranberries

I am sorry, but I am a great fan of rock and the Cranberries. They have sung great songs, but this one is a touching number. This song will make you go to your parents and say that you love them the most. Hear this one as well.

4) Die, Die my darling - Metallica

How could I miss this great rock band. They have a plethora of superb numbers, and this one represents all of them. Some say that this one is not their original. But who cares? I just love it.

3) Don’t speak - No doubt

Is it a love song for broken hearted? Or a great pop number? I think it is both of it. No doubt is a new generation group with some sarcastic numbers. But they are a great group with a special number’Don’t Speak’.

2) Fields of Gold - Sting

A great performer gives us a beautiful song of a world, which can be beautiful, but isn’t. The lyrics is very touching, so is the song. Overall, a beautiful number.

1) Sun is shining - Bob Marley

My tribute to the King of Reggae. This one is number one. May his soul rest in peace. This is an immortal song, like all his others.

Many other songs, which came close to be listed are:

*Unchained Melodies

The Train Don’t Stop Here Anymore

Unforgiven - II

Californication

Hero*

etc. etc.
