Well, Since I have starte on lyricists now, I thought I might as well feature some other lyricists of yore. And one name that came to me instantly was Sahir Ludhianvi. WEll Lets get on with it shall we. I am now noting down all those songs which have been imprinted in our memories.
1) Abhi na jao: Hum dono; This song is a very nice duet. sung absolutely marvelously by Rafi - Asha. A teasing duet, it brings out the love shared by the couple in the film. 3) Allah Tero Naam: Hum Dono. It is said that Music transcends all religions.It is true isn’t it? Why else would you get such a beautiful devotional song written huh? Just check out the word, my friends.It just is fantastic.soul stirring. The last lines are awesome. allaah tero naam, Ish{}var tero naam sabako sanmati de bhagavaan*2 Maango ka sindoor na choote Maa Beheno ki aas na toote Deh bina, daataa, deh binaa bhatake naa praan.
4) Bichde sabhi baari baari-Kaagaz ke phool. This film was great, and the songs too were great. This was a long song, but what a song.’kyaa likhe mile ab duniyaa, aaNsU ke sivaa kuchh paas nahii yaa phUl hI phUl the daaman mein, ab kaaTon kii bhii aas nahii matalab kii duniyaa hai saarii bichhaDe sabhii, bichhaDe sabhii baarii baarii
5) Aurat ne janam diya maradonko -Sadhana. This is one phenomenal song. The words are so pwerful, so emphatic, I just could not include a small para for an insight into this song. Trust me, the whole song is a moving experience.Powerful stuff this.
6) Chalo Ek Baar - Gumrah. Just check out this awesome last antra .It just is so sensitive.’taarruf rog ho jaaye to usako bhuulanaa behatar taalluk bojh ban jaaye to usako toDanaa achchhaa vo afasaanaa jise anjaam tak laanaa naa ho mumakin - 2 use ek khuubasuurat moD dekar chhoDanaa achchhaa chalo ik baar phir se .’
7) Choo Lene do naazuk - kaajal. I oughto thank Dharma for mentioning this in the comments at Rafi songs. The words he mentioned are amazing and defintely deserve a mention.here they are’achchho.n ko buraa saabit karanaa duniyaa kii puraanii aadat hai is mai ko mubaarak chiiz samajh maanaa kii bahut badanaam hai ye, chhuu .’
8) Jaane woh kaise - Pyaasa. An amazing song once again. The hearbreak can be felt indeed. just listen to this verse with your heart.’bichhaD gayaa. bichhaD gayaa har saathii dekar pal do pal kaa saath kisako furasat hai jo thaame diivaano.n kaa haath hamako apanaa saayaa tak aqasar bezaar milaa hamane to jab .’
9) Jo Baat tujhme hai - Tajmahal. A romantic song this one, sheer poetry where a lover describes his beloved. This whole song is soothing and takes u to a different dimension.
10) Kabhi Kabi - Title . You have to listen to the song and float with it. Hence I am not offering any verses.
11) Kiska rasta Dekhe - Joshila. This is one of my favorites. HEnce I have listed this song. And it is good too.
12) Laaga Chunari me daag - dil hi to hai. No explanations required here. This song is sheer magic, sung excellently by manna de.
13)’kal aur aaenge naGamon kii khilatii kaliyaaN chunane vaale mujhase behatar kahane vaale tumase behatar sunane vaale kal koii mujhako yaad kare kyuuN koii mujhako yaad kare masaruuf zamaanaa mere liye kyuu.N vaqt apanaa barabaad kare’ - kabhi kabhi main pal do pal kaa shaayar huuN .I am sure that we will never forget this poet. 14) Man re - chitralekha. Simple Lyrics, excellent singing=immortal song. sample this. utanaa hii upakaar samajh koI jitanaa saath nibhaa de janama maraN kaa mel hai sapanaa ye sapanaa bisaraa de koI na sa.ng mare man re .
15) Na to Kaarvan ki talaash - This is one magnificent Qawalli. The words in this are unparalled. A very long song, but it just is a pleasure to listen to this any time.
16) Pao choo lenedo: Another romantic duet from Taj Mahal. This is a beautiful song. Just check this last para. sharm gairon se huaa karatii hai apanon se nahii.n - 2 sharm ham se sharm ham se bhii karoge to musIbat hogii, musIbat hogii pao chhuu lene do .
