Great Roar!

Uproar is another one of those gaming websites that give out prizes in return for your online time. Uproar is indeed the best, and it was the first, founded in 1996 by an American company going by the name of E-Pub. Since 1996, Uproar have been giving away well over £1000 a week, and it’s no surprise that they are still with us.

WEBSITE DESIGN: Uproar’s website has a funky but easy to use feel. They use a colour scheme of orange/red and black, which surprisingly works very well. The site uses very advanced framing techniques which, unlike other sites, work well. The actual games you play tie in with the site in no way whatsoever, the designers used ‘iframes’s to separate areas and it looks quite good.

NAVIGATION: Well, what can I say. I think it’s the worlds first website where it’s impossible to get lost! There is a frame at the top to separate the main sections (games, prizes, members, etc...) and another frame next to the main content with the subcatagories (if you were under games, the frame would display all the games available to play. I’ll personally give £100 to the first person that gets lost!

THE GAMES: Now I’ll go through all the games available to play on Uproar.

TRIVIA FREE FOR ALL (FORMALLY COSMOS CONUNDRUM): This is my personal favourite. Nicknamed TFFA for short, it’s the only multiplayer trivia game on Uproar. Games last for approximately 8 minutes with a 2 minute intermission between rounds. In each game, 10 multiple choice questions are asked, each with point values of 500-5000 points. You have 10 seconds to answer the question. The longer it takes you, the less points you’ll get if it’s correct. If it’s wrong though, you’ll lose that amount of points. For each question you get right, you earn 1 prize pass. You can earn bonus prize passes if you finish in the top 5. Every 2 hours, all the prize passes are put into a draw and a winner is selected, winning £3. I’ve won £39 from this game and had the cheque.

PUZZLE A GO-GO: I don’t know much about this game because I’m rubbish at it. Regulars may call it PAGG for short. It’s basically a souped up version of hangman, similar to wheel of fortune. A round lasts about 7 minutes and in your group of three, you must score the most points. You then earn prize passes (explained above), more for the higher positions. If you manage to get in the overall top 3, you earn more prize passes. Again there is a £3 draw at the end of every 2 hours.

CATCHPHRASE: I assume that many of you have seen the TV show ‘catchphrase’ and it’s really no different. You are put in groups of upto 4 people and then you begin. A catchphrase is shown and everyone keys in their answer, the quicker, the more points. Everyone who gets the catchphrase right has a go at the bonus catchphrase (a puzzle board with one piece removed each time). When the time is up for the round, the overall winner (most points) wins 1 prize pass. There is then a small game played at the end called the super catchphrase. It consists of 3x3 grid with each square containing a catchphrase. If you get just one square correct, you win a bonus prize pass. If you make it from one side to the other, you win another prize pass making a total of a maximum 3 per game. The prize passes are put into a weekly draw for £50.

TO TELL THE TRUTH: This is a popular American gameshow which is very similar to Call my Bluff. Each game consists of 3 rounds where you have to impersonate famous people, making other player think you are the real person. You get 2 prize passes for every person tricked. Again, prize passes go into a weekly draw for £100.

FAMILY FORTUNES: If you haven’t already guessed, Uproar is a gameshow site. This is a remake of the popular gameshow. Consisting of 3 rounds and a final ‘Big Money’ round, this is by far the most popular game on Uproar. You have to guess what answers 100 people gave in a survey conducted on Uproar. Questions include ’’Name a type of car’’ and ’’Name a food you boil’’. The winner of each group wins prize passes that are put into a draw for £50.

FULL HOUSE BINGO: A typical bingo game with huge stakes. The jackpot starts at £50 and increases by £1 for every new player that joins the game. Players get 3 cards of 25 numbers (24 numbers + 1 free space) and they win when any of their cards is totally covered (sometimes called a blackout). They average one winner every 4 days but you have to be very luck to win. Some players have won over £500 in a single game and some have won a jackpot twice!

BINGO BLITZ: An easier version of FHB (Full House Bingo). Again you have 3 cards but instead of having to cover everything, you only need to cover a pattern chosen at random. There is a winner every game and they’re all put into a draw to win a £5 Amazon.com gift voucher every 2 hours.

TRIVIA BLITZ: There are many versions of Trivia Blitz, sports and entertainment to name a few. Each one offers a £15 weekly prize in return for a quick 2 minute game. It’s simply 10 questions each worth upto 1000 points. The quicker you answer, the more points you get. Score over 1500 and you’re entered into the drawing.

CHAT: Each game (except Trivia Blitz) has chat features with everyone in the game. You can join and create rooms, open or private. You can search for users and rooms and get information about other users.

VERDICT: It’s a great site and, if you’re lucky, you might win a bit of money. You’ve got nothing to lose so why not try it. Point your browser to https://uproar.com now!
